We stayed at the Amon Hotel in May 2014. The hotel is located on the West Bank of Luxor, which is more where the locals live than a touristic area. It is walking distance to the local ferry (no driving on). The rooms are sparse, but have everything you need and are very clean. The garden is a wonderful oasis,... More

The Amon Hotel was wonderful - it was the best hotel we stayed at in our recent travels through Egypt and Turkey. Ahmed and Mohamed took wonderful care of us and the rest of their staff provided great service. The garden is restful and the rooms spacious, clean, and comfortable. I have stayed here several times over the last handful... More

I changed my tour agency recommendation of a 5-star hotel in Luxor to Amon Hotel which ended up as the best decision for me. This hotel is in the West Bank of Luxor and has a beautiful garden where meals are served, balconies of rooms overlook, and visitors can just enjoy and relax in the soothing atmosphere. The hotel is... More

I cannot recommend the Amon Hotel highly enough; as well as the beautiful enclosed courtyard garden to relax, have drinks or dinner in, spotless rooms with balconies, free wifi, good breakfast with fresh orange juice, delicious, freshly cooked (and great value!) meals, a quiet location which is also really convenient for all the fabulous sites on the West Bank and... We have just returned after spending four weeks at this hotel. This is our second visit, last year we also spent a month there. The Amon hotel is on the West Bank just a few minutes walk from the local ferry. The hotel has a lovely quiet tropical garden, where you can sit and relax and take it easy after... More

I've had two great days and nights here on the West Bank - near the valley of the kings. It's a very easy walk (or ride if you don't want to walk 2-300 yards) to the ferry to the east bank (1 L.E. - less than a quarter!) to visit the museum, Luxor temple, and Karnak temple. Great food when... More

A very pretty small hotel walking distance (note: down an unpaved road in a residential neighborhood) from the ferry crossing on the West bank of the Nile. The Luxor ferry landing opposite puts you walking distance from Luxor Temple and a short carriage ride to the Luxor Museum and Karnak. Breakfast included was freshly prepared and tasty. Dinners for a... More

We do agree to all the recommendations, felt very comfortable and spent a great time in this hotel. Ahmet cares about everything a guest could wish and he even became a friend to us. The hotel has nice, spacious rooms with clean bathrooms and private balconies. We were really sad to leave this place after a week with friends. We... More

Very good hotel at a great price. Great clean and spacious rooms with ceiling fans & air-con. Good breakfast included in the price. Cold beer. Good hosts. Wi-Fi was a little slow. Would recommend to all my friends. Echo other positive comments.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The hotel with the informal atmosphere, where international guests will feel comfortable for weeks! The hotel is on the West Bank of Luxor, overlooking the mountains of the desert to one side and the East Bank of the Nile on the other. It is a five minute walk to the ferry and the smaller taxi boats for a five minute crossing of the Nile River. The hotel sits quietly in the middle of the village of Al Bairat with its small shops, stables, rural village life and nearby fields; near the tombs and the temples of the West Bank. Almost all of the 17 rooms are equipped with bathroom, shower and air-conditioning and have large balconies with furniture that are ideal for a relaxing time overlooking the garden or street. On the roof terraces you can enjoy the sunset and sunrise, relax or sunbathe on the deck chairs. The beautiful garden of wonder. The marvelous lotus pond, the twin fountains and rich variety of tropical plants are an invitation for enjoying breakfast or to relax after a day of sightseeing. ... more   less
