Our expectation was a good hotel, which was rated as a 5 star. Based on our travels around the world, I would suggest this is a 3 star hotel. The standard rooms leave a little to be desired. The "nile view" is coupled with either a view of a building site or a water treatment plant, both of which are... More

This hotel is a long way from being a five star and the phrase all fur coat and no knickers comes to mind when trying to describe it. They are currently building an additional three floors on top of this hotel but the money would be better spent on refurbishing the current hotel as much of it is dirty and... More

We stayed at the Sonesta for two nights in March. Overall the hotel is fine, but not the 5-star experience we were led to believe we would have. We had the usual Nile side view and that was nice. The balcony is small but sitable. Our trip was marred by a horrible sand storm but that wasn't the hotel's fault... More

The location of the Sonesta St. George is excellent - between the Corniche and the East Bank of the Nile. Most rooms have a "side Nile view" - you can see the Nile from your balcony. Some superior rooms have full Nile views. The public areas are impressive - a large air-conditioned lobby wwith plentiful seating and a pianist to... More

We have never been to Egypt before, and have heard various tales, good and bad. After looking at the reviews on Trip advisor, we booked a week's holiday at this hotel in Luxor. I have to say that the hotel we could not fault at all. It was spotlessly clean with housekeepers constantly cleaning. The staff were friendly and more... More

I chose the Sonesta St George as part of a surprise holiday for my husband's birthday, after reading other Trip Advisor reviews, and I am really pleased with my choice. The hotel offers a really warm welcome as soon as you step into reception and I cannot fault a single member of staff that we came across during our stay.... More

Beautiful hotel with lovely spacious, clean rooms. Outside area is fantastic with plenty of lougers round the pool and with helpful attendants who adjust the umbrellas to suit. Breakfast has everything you could possibly want, especially the 'egg station' where your omlettes are made to order. The Japanese restaurant in the hotel is a MUST.

We stayed at the Sonesta St George during the Easter break and the hotel stay was fabulous. The hotel is lovely, staff are very attentive, rooms are spacious, clean and very comfy. We have stayed in many hotels around the world and this one has to be up there as one of the best. Our 1 week stay wasn't nearly... More

Luxor is a holiday resort only for those interested in Egyptian antiquities and experiencing a different culture. Do not go there if you just want sun, sand and nightlife. Recommended trips are a visit to the Valley of the Kings, Karnak Temple especially the sound and light show, and an early morning balloon trip over the desert. The balloon trip... More
