We have just come back from two weeks holiday with Archers, the last four days at the Sonester. The rooms and interior are quite nice, and the staff are great. But now for the bad news, we were not told of the building works, and noticed the work ourselves when on a trip from the Nile cruise boat, the Rep... More

Having stayed at the hotel in 2007 and had a wonderful time we returned in 2008. Unfortunately this year extensive bulding works combined with the redesign of the grounds made the holiday on some days unbearable. The staff at the pool where fantastic as usual and the hotel rooms still of a high standard. Building works are due to be... More

The Sonesta was perfect for our 7 day stay- lovely room immaculate, pool area and pontoon on the nile really something special and a lot larger than some of the other hotels. Amazingly helpful staff and a lovely atmosphere overall. Only drawbacks would be the building works on the top two floors and also the slightly expensive drinks (only by... More

Stayed at this hotel from 24th to 31st March. Building work is extensive. Our room was on the right hand side of the hotel, 1st floor(looking from the front) and this seemed to be the side least disturbed by the building work going on. we encountered a lot of noise while sitting by the pool with hammering, drilling, welding. some... As other reviewers may have written, this hotel is currently undergoing a major and complex building project; 3 extra floors on top of the hotel, whilst it is still being occupied!!! If I can work out how to load a photo, I shall do so. Work goes on from ealry morning (I mean "early") until nearly 10pm. The noise means... More

Stayed for one overnight. Overall my experience here in the room was very average, although the view was pleasant of the Nile. The furnishings and room seemed a little tired - and the air conditioning did not work well. The services and common areas were better than the room - fair prices in the stores and restaurants, a lot of... More

I stayed in this hotel with my husband for 1 night, It is not an exceptional hotel nor is is completely awful either, The construction work caused us no disturbances and we were quite pleased with the Hotels appearance, F&B and staff. Based on its location this hotel meets the standards of a 4 star property.

The Hotel has a charm of it,s own. The veiws of the Nile and across to the Valley of the Kings was wonderful. The hotel location is very good, close bus ride to Karnak. We only spent one night there but would go back there in a flash. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The food at the hotel... More

My wife and I spent a week at the Sonesta after a Nile cruise. We found it to be a great hotel and would thoroughly recommend it. We had upgraded to a full Nile view room, and it was definitely worth it for us - stepping out on to the balcony it almost felt as if you could touch the... More

Hotel was absolutely lovely. We were upgraded to a suite after mentioning the room was a little small for two adults and our son. MASSIVE bed and so comfy!!! I've been to many hotels in England of the same rating and paid more for less. Exceptionally clean considering how dusty Luxor is. Okay, so there's no tea making facilities in... More
