We stayed for 2 days here, and everything about it was fantastic. It's on the docks of the quieter west bank so everything from the valleys, to Karnak, to the east bank is within a quick boat ride. The town behind the hotel is also worth exploring on foot as the people there do not hassle you like the touristy... More

Stayed a couple of days and loved our choice. Very nice view of the Nile and Luxor temple. There is a dock out front where you can catch a cheap boat across to the other side. From there you can walk to the Luxor temple, walk to the shopping area, and catch a cheap horse cart to Karnak. We really... More

The location was perfect for me and also was a quieter area. We stayed for a week and had a room with a balcony overlooking the nile. The room was cleaned daily. We mostly ate at the hotel's resto located at the top floor, also has a spectacular view of the nile. Quick access to east bank via ferry for 1Le... More

We have been to Luxor on a number of occasions but have always stayed on the East Bank, staying in the large international hotels. This time we went as independent travellers. We chose El Mesala firstly because it is highly recommended on Trip Adviser and secondly because it is only 400 yards from the ferry. This small, family run hotel... More

It has pretty rustic (to be polite) rooms, but for a $30 a night budget hotel, the best view in Luxor. For that price, I got a large balcony overlooking the Nile. The restaurant and staff were great and would send someone to run out and quickly procure whatever you wanted. It's on the quiet West bank instead of in... More

El Masala is a lovely quaint hotel on the West Bank of the Nile. Except for the fact that the neighborhood power went out twice during our stay (obviously not the fault of the hotel) it was a great place to stay. But then again I did say it was a real Egyptian experience. Our balcony overlooked the Nile. Next... More

The hotel was just what we needed - a clean and safe place to sleep, and a view of the Nile. We loved the food they brought in for us - kushari and falafel. The lunch they packed for us was also great. The staff was very helpful and friendly - thank you. It worked out fine with our tours... More

We are enjoying a wonderful stay at the El Mesala. I've visited all over Egypt many times and this is by far the best hotel I've stayed in. The staff are delightful, providing excellent service with joyful smiles. The rooms are wonderfully appointed, with balconies overlooking the Nile River and lovely Luxor Temple on the east bank. The food is... More

On the quieter West Bank, an easy ferry or motor boat ride across, clean and spacious rooms with large balcony overlooking the Nile and a roof top restaurant serving beer - perfect after seeing the sights. Run by one laid-back brother and another rather 'in your face' but together a great combo!

We spent 11 nights at this hotel and would highly recommend it. The view of the Nile is fabulous from the balcony as well as from the terrace- peaceful, quiet setting. The breakfast is good, as well we had dinner here 3 nights and it was delicious. The owners are doing a great job in trying to please everyone. We... More
