We had a short night in Cairo coming from LHR and flying to Aswan early the next morning. It took less than five minutes to get to the hotel from the airport. The lobby is lovely and cool with the staff being very friendly and efficient. Our double room was adequate, complete with all the necessary things, but seemed a... more

This was the hotel arranged for my last night in Cairo after a week's tour with Archers, aka Cosmos, visiting Cairo, Alexandria, El Alamein and Marsah Matruh. I thought it would just be a very ordinary hotel in airport land instead of which it was sumptuous. It had a luxurious entrance as well as being comfortable, the staff were friendly... more

On a recent business trip to Alex, Egypt I had a week-end free and decided to travel to Cairo. I did not realise that over week-ends (Fri and Sat in Egypt),and without booking, it is almost impossible finding decent , reasonably priced hotels anywhere in Cairo. My South African travel agent recomended the Le Passage (formerly Movenpick Cairo Airport), unfortunately... more

I recently booked a 5 star Nile cruise which included some nights in Cairo. I was told that this was a Fairmont hotel it is not! The lobby is decent but not a Fairmont type lobby the rooms are a bad Best Western at best. I was duped into thinking this was going to be a nice place to stay... more

I stayed here for 5 nights in December 2007. The location is certainly very handy for the airport and sights on the same side of Cairo. Provided traffic is smooth it takes about 15 minutes or so to downtown Cairo. The staff was very friendly and, having been upgraded to the Executive Floor, I enjoyed having breakfast in the Executive... more

Le Passage has apparently changed hands recently and this has been associated with poor staff training. It is situated right in the airport which is convenient but the room we had was noisy with the piano in the lobby intrusive into the evening, there was a party going on somewhere near and the staff were chatting in the corridor into... more

We stayed at Le Passage (formerly Movenpick Heliopolis) in Cairo for about 6 hours on our way back from Libya. The hotel has a free shuttle bus (a white mini-van), but we couldn't find it in the airport carpark (it was 3:30am though). I think "Le Passage" is written on only one side of the bus in English, so check... more

We stayed at Hotel Heliopolis after our plane was diverted by B.A. on a long-haul flight and we were stranded in Cairo for 2 nights in October 2007. We were allocated Room 4028, which overlooked the pool and gardens. It was a very nice, quiet room and was well equipped. Hotel Heliopolis is a lovely hotel and very comfortable with... more

They claim themselves to be a 5 star...it's more like a two star. The lobby area is pretty, but their rooms (so call bungalows) reminded me of a room from a cheap las vegas motel. first, it was a maze finding our room, and the actual rooms were shabby with old with run down furniture. The customer service there....well, there... more
