Older resort style hotel. Location is ok...some rooms/restaurants have a nice pyramid view. Great lobby with a couple of restaurants, bakery/coffee shop, lounge, and billiards upstairs. Smoky at times. Rooms dated, but comfortable. Not bad, but not 4*+ by Euro/American standards. Breakfast bar was terrific. more

my husband and i stayed here for 4 nights during our trip to Cairo. we would not stay here again based on our dismal experience. the hotel is not clean at all - even the entrance doors look like they have not been cleaned in months. our room had not been cleaned adequately, but we overlooked that our first night.... more

Though I spent most of the time outside, the hotel was great. No complaints. It is very close to the pyramids and I could easily find taxis to go to the city. The staff is very helpful and also help you find taxis at reasonable fare. Overall I would rate 4/5. more

I read some negative reviews but I need not have worrried. We had a friendly greeting by reception and a large room overlooking gardens and a quiet road . The room was extremely comfortable- the beds were brilliant and large. Room was kept clean and bathroom shower in walk in cubicle instead of over a bath was perfect. We did... more

My husband was unable to extend his vacation, so my 6 year old daughter and myself decided to stay on for a few days after our Nile Cruise see the sights of Cairo alone before heading home as we had a few extra days available. I was happy to book into Sofitel as my expectations of this brand are very... more

I do not know who has been adding the most recent reviews of this hotel but even a Sofitel manager agreed with the leader of our group that this was not a five star hotel. The first room we were shown had threadbare carpets, a television that didn't work properly and was dirty. After a lot of persistance we eventually... more

I checked in at the Sofitel Le Sphinx, just after having checked out of the impeccable 5 star Movenpick hotel in Aswan; so I knew that it was always going to be a tough act to follow for any hotel in Cairo. The hotel is very close to the pyramids, which is why I chose it . I went to... more

When I first booked this hotel i didnt know what to expect, as I had read some good reviews and some bad ones too. But when I got there i was relieved, as it was a lovely hotel. It is nicely decorated with egyptian style chairs and statues, and also has a lovely lobby/sitting area, with a nice relaxed, friendly... more

We had a relaxing time at the Sofitel for two nights in between sightseeing and after a hectic Nile cruise. The hotel was very nice and met our expectations; you can tell it’s an international class business hotel as the facilities are very good, as is the location. Rooms are well equipped and very comfortable; the bathroom in particular was... more
