The staff at Meramees were amazingly helpful in organising tours, a Nile cruise and our transport onwards to Luxor. When we arrived there was free cake at a birthday party for Ahmed, one of the staff. So much fun for everyone! Samir was great at helping get around Cairo and navigate the city.

Stayed 7 nights at US $22 a night in a pretty spacious twin single bed room with bathroom, fan, aircon, wardrobe and seating area. Comfortable enough bed and pretty homely feel to the room with heaps of space to spread out. Bathroom relatively modern and whilst not huge more than adequate for one person. Only power point by the door... More

My girlfriend and I stayed in the Hilton Ramses the first two days we were in Cairo and although it was luxurious, it was quite expensive for the little bit of time we spent in the room. Meramees is central located so you can tell all the cab drivers to take you to Medan Talat Harb. The staff is great... More

One of the best hostels I've stayed at. From the moment I walked in the door at 4am until the day I left the staff were great and helped me organise my trip in Egypt down to Aswan and back which was important for me being a female traveller on my own. They also answered any questions I had about... More

I recommend the Meramees Hostel for the following reasons: 1. The staff are very accommodating and friendly. 2. There are several well-priced tours that are offered through the front desk that are a better deal than what you might find on Viator.com. I took the Luxor tour and it was fantastic. 3. The hostel is centrally located within a 5... More

The hostel is close to a mosque, so you can hear the sound of pray in the morning, and it's really beautiful .And if you are lost, you can just find the mosque, they are together. It will take 10 minutes' walk to the metro, 20 minutes' walk to the train station and 30 minutes to the Bazaar. I have been... More

I spent one night in the hostel. Was one of the best that I've been to. Smack dab in the center of the city. Very very clean and the employees where awesome. I booked the double room so that I could have my own bathroom. Not a hair in sight like in most other hostels that I've stayed in. The... More

Like any other traveler going to a new place for the first time, I learned about the Meramees Hostel online and based on its ratings, booked my room for a few days without knowing too much about it. From the moment I arrived to Egypt, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the services offered by Meramees. The hotel... More
