We recently visited Egypt to celebrate my 40th birthday. Having been there before I wanted to explore some of the western deserts, mountains of Sainai and of course Cairo. All together we stayed at the Talisman for three nights over the course of our two week trip. The rooms are exceptionally comfortable, tastefully decorated and very clean. The showers are... more

We had reservations at the Grand Hotel but after one lackluster night (at $65) we moved to the Talisman because we had heard it was nice. It WAS hard to find and the entrance to the building is a bit ramshackle but once you get to the 5th floor everything is quite beautiful, decorated in a sort of classic Arab... more

Great hotel in a central location. The hotel staff is wonderful and is willing to help at any hour. PLease be advised that the entrance is somewhat scary but once you go upstairs, you'll be fine. For the most part, all of Cairo's buildings are in bad shape and this building is not any different. The rooms are very clean... more

Charming Hotel. As another reviewer commented, the outside building can put you off as a first impression as the building is part of older downtown cairo but then you take a charming 1930-40's type wooden panelled elevator up to the 5th floor and you are in an amazing boutique hotel! Staff are very polite and friendly. Rooms have a great... more

We stayed at the Talisman Hotel on both ends of our recent trip to Egypt. It was clean, quiet and beautifully decorated. With A/C, TV and a refrigerator in every room and free (and pretty fast) internet in the library down the hall, it had many of the comforts of home. The hotel is centrally located in downtown Egypt -... more

This is a beautiful hotel which I wouldn't hesitate to recommend. The Talisman is clean, and has free Internet, a lovely salon, a great continental breakfast with the best coffee we had in Cairo, comfortable beds, a lovely elevator, and best of all, it's quiet. Our balcony looked out over a busy street (Talat Harb), but the double doors kept... more

The Talisman is a wonderful hotel - our double room met with every need from a range of adaptors, hairdryer, minibar, air con to an extremely comfortable bed, double glazing and heavy curtains - essential if you know the 24 hour life of Cairo!- and spotless bathrooms with clean linen and towels everyday. The comforts of the Salon and facilities... more

Very pleasant four-day stay. Large room, very helpful staff. A travel agent visits regularly so that guided tour arrangements can be made. The address is 39 Talat Harb Street, but the the hotel entrance is on a shopping alley a short distance from Talat Harb St Street. Our taxi from the airport had a hard time finding it. Another hotel... more

My husband and I stayed at the Talisman Hotel for 4 nights and we absolutely loved it. It is hidden away on a small side street in a building we would never have expected to find such a gem. The rooms were immaculate and beautiful, and the staff was friendly and helpful. After our exhausting days of touring Cairo on... more
