We had been staying at high end hotels (Marriott, Movenpick) and were interested in seeing how this cheaper stay would compare. We were very pleasantly surprised. Hotel's reception desk and customer relations desk were excellent. The husband/wife owners greeted us in the lobby and were very accommodating and concerned we had a good stay. We enjoyed the roof top garden... more

I enjoyed my stay - the staff were friendly and effective the restaurants good. One minor comment and a major issue. They are willing to arrange pick up at airport but its a rip off - $20 for what is really a $7 ride. However hotel is on a back street and many taxi drivers may not be able to... more

We are a family of 3 and so we booked 1 double room and 1 single room, for 3 nights. We presumed that it would be a good place, since the other reviews praised it so. When we got to the rooms, we realized that they were tiny, (even the double room was less than 10 sq meters). The bed... more

To be near the airport we chose The Karvin for a relaxing last night at the end. It is not well known with the taxi drivers, so be sure to get the right phone number of the hotel and some main streets around before trying to go there; it is a little bit off the main road leading to the... more

My family and I were in Egypt recently and spent the final 2 nights in Cairo at officially 3* rated The Karvin, Heliopolis. What a pleasant surprise we got. The staff were very attentive, the rooms and toilets were roomy and clean, the beds excellent, the corridors leading to the rooms were bright, and you get to dine at 3... more

I've stayed at the Karvin with my wife and we REALLY enjoyed it. We booked a big room with livingroom, shower and small kitchen area. The area is fab and and you hardly hear and noise at night which is very unsual in most hotels in Cairo. The hotel is very clean and room service is 1st class. Bathroom is... more

Just returned from a conference in Cairo and stayed in the Karvin . It's located in a niceish residential area but taxis are cheap enough in Cairo (for Westerners) to travel to any part of the city. The staff were courteous, helpful and pleasant. The service was good. The hotel was clean. There are some shops in the street for... more

There is very little I can say that is good about this place - the staff were friendly...it had a roof... Apart from that, where to begin? It is extremely difficult to find, for starters, down a murky sidestreet. The room was as bad as I've had in a long time. Old rugs on the floor, foam pillows, foam mattress,... more
