This is an absolute dump! Actually my garbage can is cleaner than this place. We got there after a long flight. The sheets were stained and bloody. We asked for clean sheets and they said that they didn't have any!!! We had the same sheets for all our stay. After arriving in the middle of the night we were so... more

Stayed for 2 nights. Stayed on 5th floor with street view. Very loud all day and all night. Can't get too much sleep. Good value for money. Poor breakfast, tea and piece of bread with jam. It was not a leisure stay so can't tell the distance to any attraction. Only went out by myself once to the little juice... more

Even after the recent hike in room rates (a single in April 2008 had gone up to 150 LE), the Carlton represents good value for money for central Cairo. The rates include breakfast and either a simple lunch or dinner. The hotel seems to attract a mixture of local and foreign guests. One of the best things about this hotel... more

We paid a little over $40/nite. It was ok clean. We didn't really use fridge or AC. The room was noisy, but so as all Cairo. Things I don't like was the wash room, only 2 small towels, no toiletries, breakfast was a load of bread with a cup of tea or coffee. We never tried dinner, we didn't expect... more

Stayed here with my husband on April 10-13 2008. Bookede via the hotel's webpage in March, and was promised air port pick up. Wrote to the hotel five days before arrival just to reconfirm, but heard no word from them. When arriving in Cario Airport no driver was waiting for us, and while we waited we had to deal with... more

I just came back from Egypt, where I also stayed three nights at Hotel Carlton in Cairo, which was a huge disappointment. The hotel is cheap and its location is really good - but these are the only advantages. The rooms are dingy and the bathrooms are undiscribable. On the whole the staff was not very friendly and could not... more

If you're not looking for a luxury but just comfortable stay, this place is really great! It's in the centre, it's got a local market just around the corner, fast (Egyptian) food and coffee shops. I love those sandwiches filled with salad, cheese and eggs just around the corner! The rooms - for Cairo - are spacious, nicely furnished and... more

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights at a cost of about £16 per double room, per night. We saw Cairo on our own rather than as part of a tour and this hotel provided a great base to do so. This hotel was recommended to us from a friend who had stayed there. I made the booking by... more

If you want a taste of a Cairo long since drowned by the constant squeal of car horns and 5-star monstrosities that line the Nile, stay at the Carlton. The tranquil lobby and small oak-panelled bar and restaurant areas still shows signs of the 1930's style that would have once made this hotel possibly one of the best in Cairo.... more

Céntrico, al lado del Museo Nacional. Mucho bullicio por la noche-madrugada, como en todo EL Cairo. LLeno de jeques con... more
