Nice old hotel with a history. It has 50 rooms and 100 beds so it's unlikely that you won't find a place there. It is 6th to the 9th floors of a building but the elevator works. Really friendly and helpful staff. Big rooms with big balconies. Retro feeling which still lives. more

A handy location to many places. Rooms are clean, comfortable and staff are helpful. Is in a bustling part of town so a bit of traffic but not too bad on noise for sleeping. A cute place that is good value for money. more

I was very pleased with the Lotus. It cost $22 per night which was right in my budget. The hotel and rooms were very clean. As a woman traveling alone it was wonderful to feel safe and be treated so well by the staff. The staff and managment were not only friendly but very kind. I became ill on my... more

My wife and I stayed here while travelling down to Australia via several countries. We were trying to do it on a budget without roughing it too much. We had just travelled via coach feom the Red Sea at Sharm El Sheik and were tired. The room cost us about 12 Euros per night so we were not expecting too... more

The Lotus Hotel Is truly a gem in downtown Cairo. Very clean, hardwood floors, antique furniture, room with balcony, great location:minutes walk to Egyptian Museum, Nile, Opera House, galleries, an array of restaurants, free high speed Internet in lobby, a most friendly and helpful staff, good breakfast, and all this for such a reasonable price. more

I just returned from a trip to Egypt and I stayed at the Lotus Hotel in Cairo. I stayed there in October 2007 also. It is a small, simple hotel in a great location. It is near shopping, restaurants, the metro, the Cairo museum, galleries and more. The staff is very friendly and will do their best to accomodate the... more

This hotel is not for high-maintenance folk; one must love well worn but individual furniture and appreciate some history in a place that would be considered Boheme by most. It is centrally located...one cant beat the location and has good restaurants next to it (felafela, and estoril). it is sophisticated in a most worn way but the matresses aren't lumpy... more

We booked the Windsor Hotel through Expedia. They refused to acknowledge our booking and sent us instead to their 'sister' hotel the Lotus. Looking at the other reviews, the Lotus is 'cheap but cheerful'. Well, possibly because the rest of the building is now derelict, the Lotus has gone downhill. We felt totally unsafe - locked behind an iron grill... more

I saw the photos of the hotel on the net, I was expecting an old hotel, I know for that price also I can't expect much... as tolerant as I am I felt like I am camping.. the bed was (let's say) ok, the wardrobe was half broken, but the bathroom... huuuu, they have to do about that something and... more
