The Cosmopolitan is a decent value in downtown Cairo, but it's nothing to get too excited about. The rooms are tidy enough, but far from charming. It was pretty quiet, which is a little hard to find near the busy streets of downtown Cairo. The staff can be a little overwhelming as they will do just about anything to get... more

We were booked into this hotel by Egyptair because their delay caused us to miss our connecting flight. We would not have walked down the street let alone stay here in normal circumstances. The room was on the 6th floor with no sign of any fire precautions. The door had a hole in it, bathroom floor had brown liquid on... more

The Cosmo is like a well-loved but aging auntie.... not perfect but still lovable. Where else in central Cairo will you find cool rooms and security within 10 min walk from the Nile and Egyptian Museum? Where else will a lost purse full of money and credit cards be returned? I believe the Cosmo offers all a reasonable traveller requires. more

Stay away from this hotel! We stayed there for 2 nights because our other hotel reservation had been canceled due to a delay in our wire transfer. It was over Easter week and we were told no other hotels were available. I was very worried due to the other trip advisor reviews, and rightly so! The carpet leading to the... more

Hi, I have bad experience with "Cosmopolitan hotel" at Cairo. - My cash is stolen 800 dollar - Only one lamp works inside my room - AC is too old and loud (hard to sleep) - We pay 60 Dollar per night, but quality is like small Youth Hostel - I read many Bad comments from Internet about this hotel... more

This was the first place I stayed upon arrival in Egypt, and I was totally pleased. I had a corner room with high ceilings and grand floor-to-ceiling french doors that opened on to a wraparound balcony that looked on to a bustling Cairo. Very, very cool. It seemed like a faded Grand Hotel. Practically speaking, the room had everything I... more

First of all I have to honestly say I did not stay at the Hotel. But, I did spend a lot of time there and inspected the rooms and nearly moved there from the Oasis Hotel in Giza. Your first impression will be "What a dump"!! Perhaps but it has a hidden charm and character. Look closely at the entrance... more

My partner stayed at the Cosmopolitan in mid October 2006, using it as a base for exploring Cairo before heading down the Nile. The location is great -10 minutes walking distant from the Museum of Egyptian Antiquities and around 20 minutes from the train station from where you can catch the sleeper train to Aswan or Luxor. We also found... more

This is a budget hotel that has seen better days. Semi-clean, helpful staff, but no hot water. Most importantly I want to warn you on the gift shop. Don't buy ANYTHING there. The owner is an unhonest hussler. I bought some gold jewelery there that turned out to be fake. Just stay away. more
