Nice hotel very conveniently located in the heart of Cairo with nice views of the Nile. The lobby, the restaurants, and the pool are just fantastic. If you like to party at night you can also ha ng out in the very beautiful Buddha Bar. On the other hand, service was not very reactive when calling them. I had to... more

A haven on the Nile! My room had a balcony overlooking the majestic river and , on a clear day, twice in my stay, I could see distinctly the Pyramids in the background- pure magic! Everything in the room feels like luxury, except a small closet- due to the pie shape, since the building is a round tower. After appreciating... more

Stayed 3 nights here prior to further 6 nights in Luxor. The hotel is magnificent in all respects. Booked a junior suite and was upgraded to a 4 roomed suite on 21st floor. This suite was so fabulous that we could have happily stayed in it for the duration and not bothered touring. 3 balconies ovelooking the Nile, one of... more

We planned to save the best till last on our recent trip to Egypt with 2 nights in the glamorous Sofitel El Gezirah in Cairo. Sadly we came away feeling very unglamorous and insignificant. The rooms are beautiful and the views over the Nile are breathtaking. If you are lucky enough to be higher up the tower, you might even... more

We've just come back from a trip to Egypt and had the misfortune to be booked into this place for three nights. It may have 360 degree views of the Nile but it also has ludicrously expensive prices even for the most basic food (i.e. £60 for two, without wine, for the buffet. There was very little available for vegetarians... more

We stayed at the Sofitel el Gezirah for 2 nights in April 2009 and let me tell you it was JUST AMAZING. We were two couples staying there and since my wife and I arrived first, we asked them if it was possible to be in adjacent rooms with the opther couple, the staff did the impossible to comply with... more

I've stayed in most of Cairo 's luxurious hotels ; Grand Hyatt, Four seasons, Le Meredien & Conrade. I spent 2 nights in Sofitel El gezira and was planning to spend 4 but i checked out early to switch to the 4 seasons. The rooms were nice. Small but nice and claen. My problems were with the staff. They lack... more

The Sofitel El Gizerah has the perfect location. Sitting at the prow of an island in the middle of the Nile the view from the balcony of our 9th floor room was breathtaking. We simply left the curtains (and usually the door to the balcony as well) open all day and night , The room, while small, was perfect modern... more

We were moved to the sofitel one week before our holiday commenced and were a little concerned; we needn't have worried. The staff were very efficient and friendly. Our room was on the 21st floor and was well maintained and spotlessly clean. The bathroom was good and light and the shower wonderfully powerfull. My only adverse comment is that the... more

This is really what I call french touch, magnificent views, exuisite service, the staff is friendly but not intruding, you can still have your privacy even if you are surrounded with people, I am definetly returning back to this hotel and certainly will suggest is to others, you have to try the spa and the Buddha Bar. more
