There are so many things I like about the Windsor. First, the location: you can hardly find a better located hotel, as most of the decent ones (meaning other than the backpacking places) are usually found at best on busy highways along the Nile or in Zamalek. On the contrary the Windsor Hotel is at the heart of Cairo, which... More

When all is said and done you don't stay at this hotel for five star services. You stay at this hotel because you want to understand some of the history and feel of the old Cairo. If you talk to many people they would live Cairo be restored to its former glories that this hotel was a part of. The... More

I spent only one day in the Windsor Hotel but wish it had been a longer stay. This place has a most interesting history and this is reflected in many old photographs and newspaper articles located in the foyer, the bar area and the rooms. During the First World War, it served as a British Officers Club, and much of... More

Look out for Samir, the tour guide operator, he is honest, fair and has a good knowledge of the area. He like most of the staff are Copts (Christian), like Erian the receptionist who is also very helpful. Ask at the desk for Samir, they do fair priced tours of Alexandria, The Pyramids and other things at request. Also make... More

The hotel has lots of charm, and being Downtown is convenient for the Antiquities Museum, plenty of good restaurants close by and Khan el-Khalili only 20 minutes walk away, but like other guests what impressed us most was the hospitality and helpfulness of everyone working at the hotel. The WiFi in the rooms works fine, we didn't need to use... More

'Faded elegance', 'charm of an earlier romantic era' are two accurate descriptors of the WINDSOR HOTEL in downtown Cairo. You don't get glitter and swish; you don't get all the modern conveniences of a flash 5-star international hotel. What you do get is royal treatment from all staff - housekeeping, lift operators, restaurant and bar personnel, and honest personal attention... More

I have stayed in a number of the luxury hotels in Cairo, and although all of them have been more luxurious & had more facilities, I would never stay anywhere else in Cairo! The rooms are comfortable & clean, the staff all friendly & welcoming. Don't get me wrong the hotel does look a little worn, and it is probably... More

The staff are charming and the hotel is a real gem that I hope will never change, what a pleasure it was to stay in such a wonderful iconic hotel in the very centre of downtown Cairo. If you want real luxury, with a spa and a swimming pool then The Windsor Hotel is not for you, but if you... More

I liked the Windsor Hotel very much. The staff went above and beyond what I thought they would do. I needed a outlet plug adapter so they had someone run out and get me one! One of the front desk guys Samir Fayek, set my friend and I up with a 5 star three day cruise along the Nile. This... More
