This size of the title may scare some of you off, but there are some misconceptions about Cairo and its people that need rectifying. First, I am an American teacher living in Warsaw, Poland who had four days off to go down to see Cairo, Egypt. It was my first time to Egypt, and like so many, a fulfillment of... More

Not everything works in the hotel but it makes up for that by its charm and its caring staff. You are staying in a bit of history, the pictures on the walls, the elevator and the phone all are reminders of another time. Now Cairo needs tourists and we felt very safe. So do think of going. An added plus... More

I would highly recommend staying at the Windsor Hotel, it has a vibe you just won't find if you limit yourself to Zamelek or some of the big budget hotels. While staying at the Windsor I was introduced to a Mr. Samir Fayek. Samir took me on a tour of the city, to the pyramids, to the Coptic neighborhood, and... More

I loooooove the Windsor Hotel, especially the bar. I've been going to this place since the mid 80's and it hasn't changed since. This is very old school, like stepping into the past, it's full of charm.

Let me start by admitting the Windsor Hotel is not for everyone. If you are looking for the Mena House or Ritz Carlton, you need to stay at those places. Once again, though, I had an amazing stay at this charming and historical gem in Cairo. The Doss family has been running the hotel for years and doing an extraordinary... More

This is a truly unique hotel, going back to a golden age of travel and exploration in Egypt. The remarkable history of the hotel is well preserved in the beautiful decor of the rooms, in the hallways and reception, and in the atmospheric barrel bar, which until the 1950s or so was the British army officers' club in Cairo. The... More

We stayed in Cairo and in Windsor hotel for seven nights. For me Windsor IS Cairo. The people. The bar. The breakfast room. The front door. The old lift. I just feel at home there. So next time is Windsor is my place.

My friend and I were completely taken care of by the staff here. The owner is lovely and checked on us daily at breakfast. We utilized the tour operator, Samir, who is also wonderful. He completely took care of us, and we didn't have to lift a finger; he planned everything down to car rides and personalized tour guides, even... More

First stepping into the Windsor Hotel was like walking back through time. Such a fantastic and unique experience. Old typewriters and a beautiful old cage elevator to bring you upstairs. All hardwood flooring with tall ceilings and stairs that spiral up around the elevator. Family owned, full of incredibly nice people. At the end of our stay we started feeling... More

This was my 4th stay at this excellent hotel, but the first time in 3 years. It's still a well-run, family-owned hotel with lots of character. The staff is largely the same as the first time I visited in 2010. The location in old Cairo is still full of atmosphere. The hotel restaurant has redone its menu with some fine... More
