This is a truly unique hotel, going back to a golden age of travel and exploration in Egypt. The remarkable history of the hotel is well preserved in the beautiful decor of the rooms, in the hallways and reception, and in the atmospheric barrel bar, which until the 1950s or so was the British army officers' club in Cairo. The... More

We stayed in Cairo and in Windsor hotel for seven nights. For me Windsor IS Cairo. The people. The bar. The breakfast room. The front door. The old lift. I just feel at home there. So next time is Windsor is my place.

My friend and I were completely taken care of by the staff here. The owner is lovely and checked on us daily at breakfast. We utilized the tour operator, Samir, who is also wonderful. He completely took care of us, and we didn't have to lift a finger; he planned everything down to car rides and personalized tour guides, even... More

First stepping into the Windsor Hotel was like walking back through time. Such a fantastic and unique experience. Old typewriters and a beautiful old cage elevator to bring you upstairs. All hardwood flooring with tall ceilings and stairs that spiral up around the elevator. Family owned, full of incredibly nice people. At the end of our stay we started feeling... More

This was my 4th stay at this excellent hotel, but the first time in 3 years. It's still a well-run, family-owned hotel with lots of character. The staff is largely the same as the first time I visited in 2010. The location in old Cairo is still full of atmosphere. The hotel restaurant has redone its menu with some fine... More

Stayed a night at this Hotel. My wife wanted to stay downtown and this hotel is downtown and hard to find. Prior to arriving check the internet and saw mid level rooms available but when we arrived at 9am only the top level room was available. Electricity went out in the morning and we were not able to get ready... More

Very charming and quaint hotel right in the heart of town. Please do not expect too many mod cons and you will be ok. Bathoroms are really basic and plumbing/ electricals are passable. No double beds available in the hotel. Elevator a little tricky and i always made sure my full family never traveled together on it. Very conveniently located... More

My name is Brian Holtzman, from Redondo Beach California and I stayed at the Windsor. First I was picked up at the airport and taken to the hotel. They showed me all the rooms and I picked out the one I liked best. My room was clean and comfortable. The whole staff was friendly and all bent over backwards to... More

Stayed here for three nights in September, I booked over the phone when I arrived in Cairo - $45 per night bed and breakfast. Once you have paid for your stay they will return your passport. I was in Room 29, which is at the back of the hotel facing the Delta market which sells juice, soft drinks, tissues, shampoo... More

We didn't want a big modern faceless hotel but nevertheless also wanted to be comfortable and the Windsor turned out to be an ideal choice. This hotel is an experience in its own right as it still has many features of yesteryear with real character - no wonder Michael Palin stayed here for the TV programme! Best thing about the... More
