Walking into the bar/restaurant it feels like you have passed through time. The furniture is stunning and ambience amazing - the food was great as well. Yes the rooms were average and the outside of the hotel is somewhat past its glory days but when we return to Cairo, we will most definitely be staying at the Windsor. From the... more

I had to visit Cairo on business this past March and looked for a hotel with 'atmosphere' rather than just booking into a sterile, personalityless big chain hotel. Windsor was a real find. The history it represents, the unchanged lounge and reception area dating back to the 20s and the incredible warmth, caring, and genuine friendship of the staff made... more

If you're looking to Experience Egypt as it used to be in it's glory days, this is where to go! The windsor hotel, an old British Officer's club, has all the warmth of home with a friendly staff always greeting you with a smile and the cosy peaceful setting you need after a day in this overcrowded, noisy but absolutely... more

Everyone writes how the Windsor hotel is a bit creaky but incredibly charming. I'll agree about the lounge, elevator, and maybe even the furniture. The staff and guards were all very friendly and tried to be as helpful as they could. The lounge is a beautiful spot to hang out and have a drink (not tea, it's ridiculously over-priced) and... more

The Windsor is a quirky, charming hotel with a lively history and an extremely friendly and gracious staff. It was built at the turn of the 20th century and was formerly the British Officers' Club before the revolution of 1952. Michael Palin of Monty Python fame stayed there while filming "Around the World in 80 Days" for the BBC. If... more

Really cool hotel. Huge room, but the bed was a bit uncomfy. The character of the hotel made up for it. Location seemed a bit iffy at first, but don't be too concerned; I never felt unsafe. Staff was very friendly and helpful. more

Anyone that goes to Cairo should experience the great charm and warmth of this hotel and its people. I enjoyed every aspect of my stay and felt like I was staying with family! They were caring, attentive and generous. The hotel itself is a gem in the centre of Cairo... full of character and spirit, I would recommend it to... more

After an initially rocky start - the hotel wanted to switch us to their sister hotel upon our 3am arrival, after I specifically stated that that was unacceptable prior to confirming the reservation - things were sorted out, we stayed put. The hotel has a lovely decor. The hotel staff is LOVELY - I loved a tablecloth they had, and... more

The Windsor Hotel is located in the heart of Cairo. It's like stepping back in time. The phone is a switch board operator; the elevator requires an attendant to run it. The hotel is a rich history. Our accommodations were acceptable. The hotel could use some TLC and fresh paint to reclaim some of its glory. We enjoyed eating breakfast... more
