Not sure how a Cairo hotel gets a name like Flamenco, anyway, this is a respectable hotel situated by the Nile. It's part of a chain, but you wouldn't really know it - the reception, restaurant and bar display a modicum of local character. The rooms are spacious and well-appointed and have balconies, but make sure you book a Nile-side... more

I had a split stay around a trip to Luxor. The first visit was 3 days and I stayed in a room on the side of the building away from the Nile. The bed seemed to have been built out of concrete - in all my years visiting hotels I have never experienced a bed as hard. It was also... more

Ok, so admittedly I stayed in this awful joint for a long period so was able to experience the exceptionally poor service on a daily basis. The only reason I stayed is that it is close to my work. Nevertheless, do not go into this hotel with any positive expectations. If something doesn't work in your room (which will likely... more

This is a four star hotel with 5 star super-friendly service .It's in a quiet location in Zamalek. The superior rooms are slightly more expensive but that's definitely worthwhile .Many even have very attractive Nile Views of the houseboats moored along the opposite bank .The bathrooms have been modernized and are quite large . The breakfast buffet is varied and very... more

For about $100/night you can stay in a relatively clean, relatively decently appointed room in a relatively quiet neighbor atmosphere accessible to the heart of Cairo. The island area of Zamalek has plenty of neighborhood street with quaint shops. The Flamenco Hotel is in the heart of this neighborhood. I could easily block out the damn honking taxis outside my... more

The Flamenco Golden Tulip in Cairo is an average, typical city hotel. Location: the only positive point of this place is it's location. It is situated in the area of Zamalek, a quiet residential area not too far from the city's main attractions. Going to the Pyramids will take you between 30 - 45 minutes, depending on time of the... more

We stayed at this hotel last week, this hotel is definitely of a 4 star standard, the room was fantastic with nile view, and the staff were very friendly, the location of the hotel is great after being in the hussle and bussle of the city centre. Once at the hotel I would recommend Ahmed for your taxi, 2008 car,... more

We weren't intending to stay here, but due to an oversight in our planning, needed to find a room for a night in Cairo. We were very happy with this hotel. The room was nice and comfortable. There was a nice buffet breakfast and the staff spoke good English. Only drawback was the relative lack of sound insulation, so one... more

I have just returned from my 5th visit to Cairo, and it was my 3rd stay at the Flemenco (Golden Tulip) Hotel. I think it has improved year on year. Every time we go, we look at other hotels in this class, just in case we can find better value for money - we can't! For what you are paying... more
