This hotel meets needs but that is just about all. It needs to update its room and provide wifi in all rooms as most other homestay/hotels offer so that the lobby isn't congested with weary travellers in pyjamas trying to milk whatever free wifi they can to contact loved ones. I have no complaints about the staff, they do what... More

Government hotel, or official tourist hotel approved or some other title. It's an 80's~ 4.5* hotel that it still well run. Can't say I was too amazed by it. needed to stay in that area, that's where it started and ended. WIR? most likely i wont.

We traveled to Seoul, S Korea in May 2011 for the adoption of our son. We weren't able to get a room at our agencies guest house or in The Somerset, which were our first choices. We ended up getting a room at the Seokyo. It was incredibly humid during this time and we were only given one key to... More

Stayed her for three nights for work recently. The location is good but that's really all they've got. The free lobby wifi is woefully inadequate. One wafer thin pillow on the bed and when I called and asked for one more for me and my colleague I was told there was only one spare pillow in the whole hotel! Whaaaat?... More

Hotel is great, clean, tidy and location is the best ever! So many restaurants close by you can walk for hours through street after street. Wifi in lobby and bar is average and none in rooms which is a real pain. Highly recommended

I stayed here for one night as I explored the chaotic nightlife of Hongdae. You couldn't ask for a better location for this art infused music infested district. A 6 minute walk from almost any hotspot in Hongdae is what this place has going for them. The hotel itself is clean, well taken care of, and comfortable considering the price... More

This hotel was chosen for me by the conference organizers. The location was fine. The staff spoke little English. The room was large. The view of many Seoul rooftops was uninspiring. But I had no issue with the hotel until leaving, when I was charged for minibar drinks that I did not indulge in. In spite of pointing out that... More

Read the review before going where some gave a low review but for the price paid a pleasant surprise. Location by Hongik station, just outside the door, and area filled with shops, bars, cafees and restaurants but still quite at evening. Room nice, clean and ok size for a major city, free internet in the lobby, though not in the... More

A friend that lives in South Korea booked this hotel for my boyfriend and I. We only stayed one night, but we were fine with the room. It was very close to the area we wanted to be in. We were looking to go out and have a good time, and this hotel was just fine for that. I thought... More

Staying in Hongdae

Neighborhood Profile
Hongdae
Carefree enthusiasm is everywhere in this energetic neighborhood centered on Hongik University, Korea’s top art school. From its assortment of murals to the occasional amateur street performances, creativity and expression make up the wild and beating heart of vibrant Hongdae. At the Free and Hope Market (weekends at the Hongdae Children’s Playground) you'll find one of Seoul’s most popular handmade and creative markets drawing consistent crowds. At Hongdae, there’s never a shortage of things to do and see; food and drink options are nearly endless as are shops and noraebang (karaoke) rooms. Hongdae is also one of Seoul’s top party and club scenes catering to a younger demographic; if a packed club isn’t your scene, you'll also find a range of music venues and bars offering live music in all genres. Although Hongdae has lost much of its unique appeal and undergone rapid commercialization in recent years, be sure to explore Hongdae’s edges in areas such as Sangsu-dong and Yeonnam-dong where Hongdae’s fiercely independent streak still runs freely.
