I stayed 9 nights in the Metro Hotel in August 2015. I would describe my experience as pretty near perfect. It was my first trip to Seoul. Bus 6015 from outside the Arrivals Terminal at Incheon Airport brought me to the Ibis Hotel in Myeungdong, less than 5 minutes walk from the Metro, for W10,000, approximately $8.50. The bus took... Stayed here for 6 nights and really enjoyed my stay. The hotel is about a 5 minute walking distance from subways and bus stops and right in the middle of Myeongdong; a shopping, restaurant, and street food meca. The room was clean, comfortable, and quiet at night. I highly recommend this hotel and the area in general.

I stayed here in late May for three days. I had wanted to stay at Hotel Ibis (which was where I stayed last Dec). However, I decided to try out Metro Hotel. I wasn't disappointed. The stay was excellent. Reservation is made over the hotel website, the hotel confirms the booking via email within 24 hours. I had wanted a... More

My friend and I stayed in the hotel over 5 days and in the shopper's choice room. The hotel is located in the corner of Myeong Dong, Seoul and is 3-5 minutes walk from the nearest Eujiro-1 ga metro station. The breakfast is complementary. I love the hotel for their service and dedication to service. As we booked directly with... More

Took a stop in Korea on my way back from vacation. Picked this spot for it's location in Myeongdong & high ratings. The ratings match this place perfectly. Great location walking distance to Myeongdong markets, Big Lotte Department store, Eijero-1 station, & the airport limousine bus stop. Has a Starbucks, Smoothie place, Japanese & Korean restaurant around the bottom floor... More

The family room has two mattresses on the floor that accommodates 4 ppl comfortably. Great breakfast. Starbucks is downstairs (a full Starbucks). The facilities have a play area for kids and laundry room. There is plenty of ice. We went in Aug when it was hot. The A/C was marvelous. They provided 4 bottles of water every night. We checked... We stayed at this hotel for two nights and paid roughly 70 euros per night for a standard queen room. Room: The room is nice, a bit small as expected but nicely decorated and with various amenities: free and fast wi-fi, air-conditioner, tv (with english channels), fridge, a kettle and tea/coffee, air-dryer, free bottles of water everyday, good quality shampoo,... Stayed for 4 nights. The rooms are clean and nice, but a bit small. Only complaint is that the AC was above the bed, blowing directly in your face the whole night. The location is great. Centrally placed in Myeongdong, you can really experience the buzz, noise and lights within the area, and easily retrieve back to this friendly and... More

We stayed here for four nights after finding a discount rate on Booking.com which was far cheaper than the rate offered on the hotel’s website. The location really was fantastic. Close to restaurants, shopping and the subway station. The staff were very polite and friendly with enough English to get the job done. The room was definitely on the small... More

Located at the heart of the Myeongdong shopping district. This is the perfect hotel for you to bring back all the shopping bags and go out shopping again. You wouldn't be staying long in the hotel room either. As this hotel is quite new. Not a lot of taxi drivers knows about it. Room is clean, but small. Reception is... More

Staying in Myeongdong / Namdaemun

Neighborhood Profile
Myeongdong / Namdaemun
Arguably Seoul’s most famous neighborhood and undoubtedly one of its most popular, Myeongdong takes shopping and eating to new heights, with hundreds of shops, restaurants, and cafes all stacked on top of one another. The rise in popularity of Korean cosmetics, fashion, and more has made this area a must-see for visitors who come and marvel at Myeongdong’s often frenetic pace and energy. Lotte and Shinsaegae’s massive department stores are also popular draws for both Korean and luxury products. The department stores, just like Myeongdong’s streets, are crowded around the clock. Myeongdong’s many street food carts are also immensely popular for their inexpensive and quirky offerings (French-fry-encrusted corn dogs, anyone?). The neighborhood’s popularity, as well as its close proximity to other popular sights and neighborhoods, makes it one of Seoul’s most popular places to stay.
