Very helpful and efficient staff, clean comfortable rooms. I see another review that says no AC?? I don't know how this is possible - it's a relatively new (or newly renovated) hotel. MANY choices for food nearby and centrally located. 2 block from Plaza Hotel where airport bus pick up. Only negative was a slightly noisy room - from AC,... More

The room was clean. That's about it. There's no air-con which was just tolerable in April but unimaginable otherwise. The room smelled of cigarettes, service was non existent and the ambiance and location are sleazy. Oh, and the WiFi was intermittent and slow. Look elsewhere, this is not a good hotel.

Let me just start with the most negative part of this hotel. The staffs! the receptionists. They are either in a bad mood or they are being trained badly. They never ever said hello, never ever smiled, and never ever answers any questions. Location was reasonable as long as you have a GPS or just use google maps. the easiest... More

Will keep this short. Room is small but clean. Bathroom is clean to western standards. Two thumbs down to breakfast in cafe aropa. I have nothing good to say about it. No AC. Stayed in April if that makes a difference. Musty smell on the 5th floor hall way. Centrally located to all the palaces and namdaemun market. Short walk... More

Make sure you check out where this place is on a map as it's a little tricky to find the first time. Very conveniently located for public transport and places to eat. Although the rooms are small, they are very clean. The staff did not speak much English, we found it best to communicate with them by using a translation... More

The location is very convenient if you wish to explore the city on your own: 2 min walking from the City Hall metro station, exit 7. For those who might have trouble finding the hotel: emerge from exit 7, cross the road ahead, turn left immediately, and then it's in the second small street to the right. Walking to the... More

Hotel Aropa is a simple hotel. Everything is very clean, organised and modern. The rooms are bigger than those in Hong Kong hotels but there is no 'wasted' space; everything is laid out with purpose. The wifi ran consistently around 1.2 MBPS I stayed in an *09 room, which, looking at other rooms, has the best layout as the bathroom... More

Hmmmm I don't really like this hotel design and bed. Look a bit old. And not services you can expect from this hotel when you need help:) The area is food district which is good ... Walking distance to to train station. Quite disappointed with the frontline. The lady really will basically says please refer to the map, refer to... More

Very nice place to stay in the city. The rooms are good size. The bed is comfortable with a window to look out of. Had all the amenities that were needed. Breakfast was included at the Aropa Cafe on the bottom floor. Even had a sauna, but unfortunately was only for MEN. Not quite sure why only the one sex... More

Staying in Myeongdong / Namdaemun

Neighborhood Profile
Myeongdong / Namdaemun
Arguably Seoul’s most famous neighborhood and undoubtedly one of its most popular, Myeongdong takes shopping and eating to new heights, with hundreds of shops, restaurants, and cafes all stacked on top of one another. The rise in popularity of Korean cosmetics, fashion, and more has made this area a must-see for visitors who come and marvel at Myeongdong’s often frenetic pace and energy. Lotte and Shinsaegae’s massive department stores are also popular draws for both Korean and luxury products. The department stores, just like Myeongdong’s streets, are crowded around the clock. Myeongdong’s many street food carts are also immensely popular for their inexpensive and quirky offerings (French-fry-encrusted corn dogs, anyone?). The neighborhood’s popularity, as well as its close proximity to other popular sights and neighborhoods, makes it one of Seoul’s most popular places to stay.
