Fortune guys were very friendly. They even recommend a place to go (or arrange one for you). Toasts, hard-boiled eggs and margarine for a satisfied breakfast. The location is not that easy to find because we arrived at Seoul midnight of March 31. One staff from hostel looked for us and escorted as to the hostel. I would like to... More

For my first time in Seoul, I couldn't have asked for a better location. The hostel is really near the subway station, but is also in walking distance from many of the major attractions for a first time visitor. It's simple, with a very small common area. Breakfast is included (bread, eggs and coffee). For me, the best part was... More

Firstly, this hostel is really close to the station so it was so comfortable to go somewhere from the hostel. one thing i was so worried about was transportation, but i didnt have any problems with it as David explained everything so kindly. Even the price is reasonable, the hostel is really comfortable and felt like im at home lol.... More

I stayed in a single bedroom of this hostel for a few nights in March 2015, I found it small but sufficient. It was also very quiet and warm as it had a heated floor. The breakfast was a bit simple: toast, drinks and eggs. Luckily a convenient store was about 10 steps away. The hostel was just about a... More

We had an amazing time in Seoul, i think one of the main reasons is because of this hotel. Though it was small, it was very comfy, warm (for winter) and clean. Very Clean! The owner is very accommodating adn down to earth, thanks Mr Park! The location is just a 10-15min walk from the Jongno-gu Station, could be a... More

I stayed here for 7 days and it was very good.. I had a great stay.. The room is small and clean but it's a great value for a cheap price.. Their English is spoken very well. With cute decorations, I've never imagined I'd be residing here, and I glad we did! They accept foreigners and you can share information with them too. I went with my sister and we basically browse all the neighbouring hotels before we landed on their front door. Due to my bad health condition at the... More

We stayed for 8 nights and from Day 1, we never had any issues at all with this hostel. They are very warm, attentive and helpful. This hostel is highly recommended for its location, room and staff. Definitely a home away from home!:-)

I've stayed there for 7 nights during winter. First thing i like is their location, it situated 5 mins walk away from airport bus stop & 5 mins walk away from subway station (Jongno 3-ga). The subway station itself connected 3 lines (Line 1, 3, 5) which will be very convenient to travel around. It is so near to Insadong... More

Staying in Gwanghwamun / Jongno

Neighborhood Profile
Gwanghwamun / Jongno
If Gwanghwamun is the unofficial living room of Seoul, Jongno is the main hallway connecting some of Seoul’s most important historic sites and neighborhoods. Being one of Seoul’s oldest neighborhoods, the area is rich with history and culture in its palaces, shrines, and temples. Stand in the center of Gwanghwamun Square with Gyeongbokgung Palace and Mt. Bugak in front of you, King Sejong the Great statue behind you, and modern office buildings encircling you—it’s one of the best ways to experience both past and present Seoul in one spot. The main street of Jongno is mostly dotted with restaurants and cafes, but explore deeper within its intricate alleys to pass decades-old restaurants, mom-and-pop shops, and pojangmachas (tents that open at night for quick bites and drinks) and life seems to run just as it did a decade or two ago. Don’t forget to stop at Gwangjang Market, Korea’s oldest traditional market, where it’s just as fun to explore as it is to eat the affordable market dishes that locals have been enjoying since the market first opened in 1905. For a break from urban life, walk along the restored Cheonggyecheon Stream that runs parallel to Jongno for a moment of natural refuge in metropolitan Seoul.
