Stayed in a mixed dorm with 8 bunks, all taken up by close mates. We had an crazy time partying, thanks to the location of the hostel it was very easy to get anywhere and do anything in the hong-dae area. They were always having different nights to help guests bond. Mason was great for advice on clubs and places to... More

The location is not far from shopping and hangout area in Hongdae. So that you can bump around the city on foot. There are good facilities and private area for female. Good place for traveling with a small group of friends. (Less than eight persons) All staffs are friendly. (I met Mason, Melanie and Grace at a chicken party on... More

I had a good time staying at this hostel. It's ideal if you are traveling alone, because there are many other solo backpackers. The location is really good and the two girls I met working there, Melanie and Jay, were really helpful and fun (Melanie even picked me up from the metro station). However, the only down point was the... More

For the price you pay, this place is definitely a great choice to be staying at! Located in an awesome area , there is always something going on around the place that shows a piece of Seoul. The Staff here (I only met Mason though) will make sure you are taken care of and he will do everything he can... More

We stayed in this hostel for two nights, I can say that I have done a pretty good choice. This property is located in a very central area of the city, adjacent to a metro station about 5 minutes walk away, this is a neighborhood very much alive and full of restaurants and pubs especially in the evening, many young... I stayed here for 3 nights in a female dorm room (8 bunk-beds). The female dorm is in 2nd floor. All the doors are using passwords so the security is maximum here. There are 2 bathrooms and a make-up room filled with cotton-buds, cotton pads & tissues here for the ladies. The room itself is not too spacious but the... More

I actually got here by accident, but it was one of the best experiences in seoul. We went to see a movie with my friend and it ended late, so we just went here. Even though we got there after 1 am, there were still people sitting arround, having fun, some music going on, laughing. I got a bed right... More

Good location near metro station and plenty of shops. There's a great little wine tavern across the street from it. Rooms are nice and clean. I was in a shared area with private rooms. First impressions were not great, didn't feel welcome on arrival and the reception area was a bit messy. Also, no elevator. Depending on what floor you're... More

Staying in Hongdae

Neighborhood Profile
Hongdae
Carefree enthusiasm is everywhere in this energetic neighborhood centered on Hongik University, Korea’s top art school. From its assortment of murals to the occasional amateur street performances, creativity and expression make up the wild and beating heart of vibrant Hongdae. At the Free and Hope Market (weekends at the Hongdae Children’s Playground) you'll find one of Seoul’s most popular handmade and creative markets drawing consistent crowds. At Hongdae, there’s never a shortage of things to do and see; food and drink options are nearly endless as are shops and noraebang (karaoke) rooms. Hongdae is also one of Seoul’s top party and club scenes catering to a younger demographic; if a packed club isn’t your scene, you'll also find a range of music venues and bars offering live music in all genres. Although Hongdae has lost much of its unique appeal and undergone rapid commercialization in recent years, be sure to explore Hongdae’s edges in areas such as Sangsu-dong and Yeonnam-dong where Hongdae’s fiercely independent streak still runs freely.
