My wife and I took the biggest room while my wife's elder bachelor brother took the smaller room. There is a third room occupied by a guy from Hong Kong. The property is a short walk from the MRT Anguk Staion or alternatively walk a bit further to Jongno 3(sam)ga Station which is the interchange of Lines 1, 3 and... More

March 1, sunday: you hear a few good stories about "home stay" but mostly you hear horror stories from your friends and family. Sopoong is a pleasant surprise. As a regular business traveller, I'm used to good classed hotels with loads of creature comfort amenities, comfy bed, pristine clean sheets, 24 hour service, room service and butler at your beck... Dear Sue and sisters, Super thanks for your review. It's my 99th 5 star review and also quite meaningful with your awesome descriptions! So your trial on homestay sounds like a good thing. I'm so glad to hear that. Cannot help mentioning again about the great pineapple tarts you brought from Singapore. I just finished it several days ago and... More

My wife, 2.5 yr old boy, and I stayed at Sopoong Guest House for 5 days. The Annex House gave us the privacy and space that we very much appreciated. We enjoyed strolling around and exploring the Bukchon neighborhood each day. KJ is a superb host. We especially liked the authentic local restaurant recommendations he made. Highly recommend!

Dear Chan family, It was of a pleasure having such a sweet family like yours. Annex is not the main house of Sopoong, but I'm glad you enjoyed the private coziness there. I may host you in a better house next time! My best wishes to Mei for the new birth coming soon. You all must be excited! I'm happy... More

I stayed here for 3 nights and I'm glad I did. The location can't be beat for hitting the tourist spots, especially the Hanok Village and the palaces. KJ is a gracious host; he spent 30 minutes with me upon arrival going over the map, highlighting the must see places to visit and dine. I was able to walk to... More

My husband and I stayed at Sopoong Guest House for 5 nights and had an amazing time. The location is perfect walking distance to shops, restaurants, and palaces. KJ and the staff were very gracious and did a great job recommending points of interests and places to eat. It was a very cool experience to be able to stay in... More

This guesthouse stay was fantastic. We spent our entire time in Seoul here, 10 days overall and they made us feel very welcome. I didn't expect the 4 free breakfasts we got, all were delicious and a little bit different. Guesthouse was comfortable and clean. Bathroom facilities were nice and modern. Our room was spacious enough for 2 and mattresses... More

Well, I rarely leave and write review for accommodation stay, but Sopoong Guest House is an exception. The host, KJ is amazing, thoughtful and fun host! I really enjoyed my stay in one of the guest house rooms that cater for 2. From enquiry to check in, Korean breakfast to local tour, everything was arranged and executed perfectly in every... More

We stayed in Sopoong Annex for 4 days. It was unforgettable experience.. All the booking was made through communication via Sopoong Facebook page. We decide to reserved Sopoong Annex because we traveled with 5 years old son. We are a bit worried if we stayed in the shared house will disturb another guest as my little boy is very active.... Where do I start? From the initial contact to leaving sopoong guesthouse, it was nothing but the warmest and most sincere hospitality. KJ, the owner, is very soft spoken and doesn't say a lot but don't let that make you feel he doesn't care. He does many things behind the scenes that you will see for yourself. We had 5... More

Staying in Samcheongdong / Bukchon

Neighborhood Profile
Samcheongdong / Bukchon
This historic neighborhood was traditionally home to Seoul’s middle and upper-classes. Now it’s most famed for its clusters of beautiful, traditional Korean homes (called hanok), many of which are found in Bukchon. Many of these homes have now been converted into restaurants, cafes, shops, and even guesthouses, and their unique architecture offers a look at Korea’s traditional beauty. Samcheongdong’s main and side streets attract locals and tourists alike for their quaint and charming scenery, while the Blue House (Cheong Wa Dae) serves as the residence for South Korea’s president. Art fans will love exploring the many independent and private art galleries in the area.
