It seems like this place not doing well. Its hard to find and on the first floor is a noisy bar that stays open late so hard to sleep. Staff if friendly but bar staff and hotel staff is different. I thought weird bar is pizza place in Korea. Rooms are ok but look a bit worn and bathrooms are... More

The rooms, the workers, the food, the atmosphere .. everything feels like home when staying there. I stayed there for a long time in a dormitory. I got never disappointed and I made a lot of friends. The place is located a very good place so it is easy to get to all the funny and interesting things. All of... More

The staff is friendly and really helpful. The location is pretty nice, close to many tourist attractions. They offer free breakfast and if you are too tired to eat out, they serve delicious pizzas at their restaurant downstairs. Worth a stay !!

This hostel has very clear and easy instructions on how to get to the hostel (we took the bus). My mom and I got in pretty late and the front desk girl was very helpful. We got lucky and landed a room next to nobody, because the walls are a bit thin. But every guest seems to sneak about so... More

Arrived with some friends after a week of exploring Korea. It wad nice to have some "normal" breakfast. Staff is super friendly and rooms are modern and comfortable. We stayed in a 3 people room. Had a small kitchen and living room and bathroom. Staff helped us out when we needed it. Would return if I am ever in Seoul... More

Easy to get to from incheon airport using bus 6011, 10,000w for adult, less for child, buy your tickets in the arrival hall. Super friendly welcome, heaps of helpful information from Kevin. We'd booked 4 dorm beds but were upgraded to the family room at no extra cost. Clean and with everything we needed. Location is superb with palaces literally over... More

Booked the hostel while looking for a budget accommodation where my family and my sister's can stay. The family suite at Stay in Gam answered our needs well. The location is a bit of a walk from the train station but nothing you can walk to and from to. We open our windows and our view is one of the... More

Stayed here for 5 nights in late March with a friend. The location of the hostel is convenient: close to a few main sights, good restaurants, and about 10 minute walk away from the closest metro station. Overall, the hostel's facilities were satisfactory, with accommodating and friendly staff who proved to be incredibly helpful all through our stay. Would return,... More

So me and my bros from the army wanted to have a short holiday together since we just got discharged from the armed forces, and I would like to say StayInGam was an excellent choice. It was very homey, the view around the area was great, and we could get to many places quickly since the station was quite central.... More

Staying in Gwanghwamun / Jongno

Neighborhood Profile
Gwanghwamun / Jongno
If Gwanghwamun is the unofficial living room of Seoul, Jongno is the main hallway connecting some of Seoul’s most important historic sites and neighborhoods. Being one of Seoul’s oldest neighborhoods, the area is rich with history and culture in its palaces, shrines, and temples. Stand in the center of Gwanghwamun Square with Gyeongbokgung Palace and Mt. Bugak in front of you, King Sejong the Great statue behind you, and modern office buildings encircling you—it’s one of the best ways to experience both past and present Seoul in one spot. The main street of Jongno is mostly dotted with restaurants and cafes, but explore deeper within its intricate alleys to pass decades-old restaurants, mom-and-pop shops, and pojangmachas (tents that open at night for quick bites and drinks) and life seems to run just as it did a decade or two ago. Don’t forget to stop at Gwangjang Market, Korea’s oldest traditional market, where it’s just as fun to explore as it is to eat the affordable market dishes that locals have been enjoying since the market first opened in 1905. For a break from urban life, walk along the restored Cheonggyecheon Stream that runs parallel to Jongno for a moment of natural refuge in metropolitan Seoul.
