Stayed here for 5 nights in late March with a friend. The location of the hostel is convenient: close to a few main sights, good restaurants, and about 10 minute walk away from the closest metro station. Overall, the hostel's facilities were satisfactory, with accommodating and friendly staff who proved to be incredibly helpful all through our stay. Would return,... More

So me and my bros from the army wanted to have a short holiday together since we just got discharged from the armed forces, and I would like to say StayInGam was an excellent choice. It was very homey, the view around the area was great, and we could get to many places quickly since the station was quite central.... More

My husband and I stayed at Stay Inn Gam from March 13 to 16. The place was clean from the lobby to the room and comfort room. Its easy to go to and from our room from the fourth floor to the lobby where we have breakfast everyday. The staff esp. Mr. Lee was very nice and accommodating. He knows... More

Everything is above average (friendly staff; clean bedroom; clean toilet; convenient location to tourist spots and subway station, around 5mins walk to nearest exit). Breakfast is good, but the menu can be changed from time to time. It is too considerate to have free long-distance phone call~!!! Yet, the shower takes some time to provide hot water and it was... On our first day, after a warm welcome we were invited to have breakfast before we headed out into the cold January streets of Seoul! We only were supposed to stay 4 nights but ended up staying 5! The facilities put many European hotels to shame, great showers, really cosy rooms to retire to and warm up in. Clean and... More

It was our first trip to Seoul and we booked this hostel because of the many good reviews. Hosun was very helpful and accomodating even before we arrived- emailed us a map to the hostel and advised us on the public transportation we should use. He was kind enough to let us have breakfast as we arrived the hostel early... More

We loved our stay here. We are married in our 30's and it didn't feel like a hostel. The staff was also incredible and helpful. They even picked us up when we got lost trying to find it. -So clean -Friendly staff -Decent breakfast (eggs, cabbage, coffee, toast) -Shared bathroom didn't feel shared at all. It was very clean and... More

Staying in Gwanghwamun / Jongno

Neighborhood Profile
Gwanghwamun / Jongno
If Gwanghwamun is the unofficial living room of Seoul, Jongno is the main hallway connecting some of Seoul’s most important historic sites and neighborhoods. Being one of Seoul’s oldest neighborhoods, the area is rich with history and culture in its palaces, shrines, and temples. Stand in the center of Gwanghwamun Square with Gyeongbokgung Palace and Mt. Bugak in front of you, King Sejong the Great statue behind you, and modern office buildings encircling you—it’s one of the best ways to experience both past and present Seoul in one spot. The main street of Jongno is mostly dotted with restaurants and cafes, but explore deeper within its intricate alleys to pass decades-old restaurants, mom-and-pop shops, and pojangmachas (tents that open at night for quick bites and drinks) and life seems to run just as it did a decade or two ago. Don’t forget to stop at Gwangjang Market, Korea’s oldest traditional market, where it’s just as fun to explore as it is to eat the affordable market dishes that locals have been enjoying since the market first opened in 1905. For a break from urban life, walk along the restored Cheonggyecheon Stream that runs parallel to Jongno for a moment of natural refuge in metropolitan Seoul.
