The hotel is right in the Myeongdong, the famous shopping area of Downtown Seoul where you can find dozens of bars, restaurants, small shops and department stores. It almost never sleeps and I sincerely recommend this hotel and location for anyone who comes to Seoul for fun, nightlife, sightseeing and shopping. Two huge markets are within walking distance, as well... More

My husband and I stayed in this hotel just before Christmas and we loved it! The room was great, awesome bathroom and the bed was so big we couldn't find each other. Staff was very lovely although the waiters in the restaurant struggled with English a little bit The location was fantastic. There are markets right in front of the... More

Seoul Royal Hotel's location is perfect! Lots of restaurants, convenience stores, shops in the area. The food strip is just a stone's throw away! Free shuttle bus to & from the airport. Mattresses are quite old but they're starting renovation this June 2015, so hopefully, they will change the worn out mattresses.

The location is perfect, right in the heart of Myeongdong but just on the border so you don't hear the noise from the late night vendors and shops. You're about a two minute walk from the 1 and 2 line and 5 minutes from the 4 line. You can even walk to the N Seoul Tower. The rooms are quite... More

Seoul Royal is in the heart of Myeongdong. Everything is just at your doorstep. You will find money exchange places just around the corner, restaurants, food stalls, taxi and many more just in walking distance. The hotel I booked for was a twin share, a bit small but it's still lovely, ,clean and good service. We arrived at the hotel... More

We stayed for 4 nights. This is a great location to enjoy the shopping of Myeondong and the food stalls which set up at the end of each day. Staff were friendly and courteous and our room was cleaned generally while we were at breakfast which left it free and tidy for us all day, not always the case at... More

The best thing about the hotel is its location, right in the center of Myeong-dong shopping street, easily connected with busses and MRT. Staff was okay, not that courteous... We got a upgrade to executive suite, room was nice, view was okay. If you are looking at a good accommodation and flavor best of Seoul street food, and shop shop... More

Unfortunate - The staff were accommodating and allowed us to check in a couple hours early. They were kind enough to give us a bit of a larger room. All in all, that was fine. The issue was when I woke up with 10-15 bug bits on my legs and feet - and when we moved the bed and found... More

The service is excellent. Very well located. Close to everything. The restaurant is small but well organized. Even though 4 stars they have currency trading system that helped me a lot. Despite being right in the center, the hotel is very quiet and no noise. Very clean. They are to be congratulated.

Staying in Myeongdong / Namdaemun

Neighborhood Profile
Myeongdong / Namdaemun
Arguably Seoul’s most famous neighborhood and undoubtedly one of its most popular, Myeongdong takes shopping and eating to new heights, with hundreds of shops, restaurants, and cafes all stacked on top of one another. The rise in popularity of Korean cosmetics, fashion, and more has made this area a must-see for visitors who come and marvel at Myeongdong’s often frenetic pace and energy. Lotte and Shinsaegae’s massive department stores are also popular draws for both Korean and luxury products. The department stores, just like Myeongdong’s streets, are crowded around the clock. Myeongdong’s many street food carts are also immensely popular for their inexpensive and quirky offerings (French-fry-encrusted corn dogs, anyone?). The neighborhood’s popularity, as well as its close proximity to other popular sights and neighborhoods, makes it one of Seoul’s most popular places to stay.
