I have stayed here about six times. It's well located for visiting Gangnam without being in too busy a location. As everyone says the door really needs attention. It has to be done so I suggest the owners just get on with it. This is especially true of the bathrooms. I am sad to see it leaving the Marriott chain... More

This is my first stay at the Belle-Essence since it was changed from the Renaissance Seoul. I'm (very) sorry to see my Marriott points go away, but the hotel is still a solid go-to in Gangnam. The staff is largely (completely?) the same as before and had all the info on me and my family from our previous stays. They... More

The staff here are very nice and helpful. The beds are very comfortable but the hotel itself is a little aged, could use some updating. Bathroom seemed to be semi-updated but the rest of the room was a little old school. Breakfast in the lobby restaurant was very nice. Location is very convenient if you are ok with a short... More

We checked in into the hotel on January 1, 2016, the day the Renaissance Seoul rebranded itself as the Belle-Essence. The lobby was a bit dingy and dark - perhaps I have come expect a bright lobby. But the staff was friendly and warm. The room itself was quite comfortable though quite old fashioned and out of tune with the... More

Dear RajeevM19 Thank you for your review of the Belle-essence Seoul hotel. Our sincere apologies for your eggs at breakfast and for amenities at bath room. Our hotel has been providing those amenities to the guest room such as toothbrush and shaving kits upon the guests’ request only, because of a local government’s recommendation on environmental conservation. Our team will... More

Second time staying in this hotel. Deco of hotel is quite outdated, with a lot of wooden furniture... Rooms are spacious, with many dark mahogany colored furniture. Fans of contemporary styles may not like such interior designs as the furniture make the room seems dark and old. The hotel is well equipped, with full amenities such as big heated pool... More

The room interior is old style which may preferable for others but not me. Subway station is about 5-10mins from the hotel. The service is decent but not reach my expectation. Comparing with the price I paid, I would rather go to other 5 stars hotel. The housekeeper is nice and kind. She clean my room very good and she... More

Stayed with my family and enjoyed the hotel tremendously. The staff showed a very high quality of service. The location was great, walking distance to many locations and easy hailing a cab. Plus great to have the KAL airport Limo stopping right in front. Sad to see the Renaissance chain not continuing the presence here.

I found the hotel great. Especially the breakfast. You can have typical western food and you can have Korean food for breakfast. The staff was particularly helpful. There is a direct bus to and from the airport.

First of all it's a very convenient location if you would like to be close to Gangnam shopping area. It's one metro station away from Yeoksam (5 minutes walk from the hotel) or 15 minutes walk downhill to the shopping area. Marriott family hotel, located at the center of Kang-nam. walking distance from many restaurant, and airport shuttle located right in front. Sometime airport shuttle gets oversold, as no reservation is available, this stop is one of first stop. So you don't need to worry, but it will make a few stop before heading to the ICN airport

Staying in Gangnam / Nonhyeon / Yeoksam

Neighborhood Profile
Gangnam / Nonhyeon / Yeoksam
If you thought business and fun couldn’t mix, look no further than urban Gangnam and the nearby neighborhoods. On the surface, Gangnam comes off as a strictly business district with a plethora of high-rise office buildings jutting into the sky and the steady streams of office workers bustling about. But interlaced within are a string of shops, restaurants, bars, and other spots for entertainment. If Myeongdong is the generic meet-up and hangout spot north of the Han River, Gangnam is its answer for those on the south side. As evening comes, Gangnam comes alive with its countless neon lights attracting hordes of office workers, friends, and couples for food, drinks, perhaps a bit of singing at a noraebang, and more drinks. And the smattering of clubs around also draws plenty of folks looking to unwind and show off their moves on the dance floor. On weekends, the crowds gets bigger, the energy buzzes to a seemingly nonstop high, and Gangnam makes it clear why so many call Seoul the city that never sleeps.
