Nice but expensive location. Decent breakfast compared to other hostels because there are eggs and fruit included. Occupants don't make use of common areas, and some prefer to disturb others resting in the rooms. I little hard to find on foot going from the subway station, but it is only 5 min away from station and station is just a... More

I've been in many hostels around the globe: this is definetly one of the best. Mr. Lee is the MAN! If you travel to Seoul just check the others TripAdvisors feedbacks: on one has got the same! My 4 words: f - friendly - clean - fun - comfortable

I stayed here while in Seoul in November 2012. Mr Lee was a great host, very friendly and helpful and the dorm room was comfortable and a good size. Mr Lee regularly checked if the temperature in the house was acceptable as the winter was starting to get colder. Towels and some toiletries are provided, there are 2x showers upstairs... More

Transiting on my way back home to Japan, I was out of luck getting into the youth hostel, so I booked this one for about the same price. Lee met me as I rang and came in, and was kind enough to put me in a room with fewer people. While I didn't have a lot of time to socialize... More

I booked this hostel because my friend recommended to me last year. I was going to Korea last September but had to give up my trip because my annual leave was not approved by my boss. The owner Lee understood this and we made an appointment that we shall meet in this year. Two weeks ago I went to Korea... More

We only stayed here for one night in a twin room. The room was clean and nicely decorated. It was nor very soundproof but fine with ear plugs. The shared bathrooms were quite clean and Lee (the owner) provided shampoos etc. The hostel is not a party place but there was a nice safe atmosphere. The directions to the hostel... More

I love this place because i feel like home here. It maybe not at the center of seoul but only 7 mintues walking to Hongik University subway, direct for incheon airport line or to city hall subway. Good breakfast with egg, ofcourse you serve by yourself. One more pros: "Please dont wash in the bathroom because you have washing machine... More

Staying in Hongdae

Neighborhood Profile
Hongdae
Carefree enthusiasm is everywhere in this energetic neighborhood centered on Hongik University, Korea’s top art school. From its assortment of murals to the occasional amateur street performances, creativity and expression make up the wild and beating heart of vibrant Hongdae. At the Free and Hope Market (weekends at the Hongdae Children’s Playground) you'll find one of Seoul’s most popular handmade and creative markets drawing consistent crowds. At Hongdae, there’s never a shortage of things to do and see; food and drink options are nearly endless as are shops and noraebang (karaoke) rooms. Hongdae is also one of Seoul’s top party and club scenes catering to a younger demographic; if a packed club isn’t your scene, you'll also find a range of music venues and bars offering live music in all genres. Although Hongdae has lost much of its unique appeal and undergone rapid commercialization in recent years, be sure to explore Hongdae’s edges in areas such as Sangsu-dong and Yeonnam-dong where Hongdae’s fiercely independent streak still runs freely.
