Hotel Irene City is different from Hotel Irene located in Namdaemun-ro. Actual location is at 104 Bukchang-dong, Jung-gu approximately 100 meters away from Hotel Irene. Hotel location is very near Namdaemun Market and Myeong-dong. Many restaurants and convenience store within the area. There are also many bars so lots of hawkers standing by the road but it is safe walking... More

I booked this hotel thru Expedia for my Sept 2014 trip. After booking, it came up that it was no refund. Well I was stuck but hoped for the best. When I got there, the manger showed me this room and he even remarked "somebody screwed you hard". He was right. The room was maybe 6x8 at best. I'm feet... More

No, you won't find luxury or amenities here, but you will get a clean & functional room (albeit tiny), at a great location. It is within walking distance to many Seoul's attractions including the famed Namdaemun market, Myeong-Dong shopping district and City Hall area. If you don't mind a bit of a pleasant walk, GyeongBok Palace is also not too... More

Travelled to Seoul as a couple and stayed at this place for 6 nights. Let's start with the negative stuff first - the room is small (especially if you take the queen sized bedroom), with no real space for luggage (agreeing with the previous comments & reviews of this place) and last but not least, the sound insulation of this... I stayed in this hotel for 2 days. And yes its dificult to find the first time, but not as hard as pref comments say. you can walk there from Seoul Train station or from City hall Metro stop. Its accros the street from namdung market. and close by its big sister hotel irene city. its in the middle of... More

Navigating narrow side streets whose names we couldn't read would have daunted us, but not knowing this beforehand sure made our first-time visit to Seoul that much more exciting! We thought we were booking Irene Hotel (a whole building) located near a corner of a major road in Jung-Gu, not its sister hotel which occupied only two floors of another... More

The location must be the best asset of this hotel, but in our thoughts it didn't dissapoint in any other area either. Our room certainly wasn't too small and we could easily spread both our luggages on the floor and still move around. Sure it was smaller than some hotels we've been to but unlike other rewievers, we didn't feel... More

Near city hall station. Can access by hotel limousine number 6015, but please do some prior research. Reasonably sized room. No frills budget stay. Hotel staff speaks a bit of english. Sleep quality acceptable. Just that one of the nights, heard people outside quarelling and knocking on the thin walls.

United lost my luggage somewhere between SF and Seoul (or TSA screwed it up) and I stayed here hoping the luggage would show up before I took the KTX to Daegu. It was $48 for the night. Small room, no real room for luggage, but so what, you get what you pay for. I slept fine. It is only a... More

As many reviews have mentioned, the location is great. Walking distance to myeondong, takes about 15mins. And, it is about 5mins walking distance to metro station. The room size is really small, and the cigarette smell in the room is bad. Am very glad that I am only staying for 1 night in this hotel. The weird part of the... More

Staying in Myeongdong / Namdaemun

Neighborhood Profile
Myeongdong / Namdaemun
Arguably Seoul’s most famous neighborhood and undoubtedly one of its most popular, Myeongdong takes shopping and eating to new heights, with hundreds of shops, restaurants, and cafes all stacked on top of one another. The rise in popularity of Korean cosmetics, fashion, and more has made this area a must-see for visitors who come and marvel at Myeongdong’s often frenetic pace and energy. Lotte and Shinsaegae’s massive department stores are also popular draws for both Korean and luxury products. The department stores, just like Myeongdong’s streets, are crowded around the clock. Myeongdong’s many street food carts are also immensely popular for their inexpensive and quirky offerings (French-fry-encrusted corn dogs, anyone?). The neighborhood’s popularity, as well as its close proximity to other popular sights and neighborhoods, makes it one of Seoul’s most popular places to stay.
