I stayed 5 nights in this hotel before moving to Skypark I Myeongdong. Though it was cheaper but Amare room is much bigger than the one in Skypark. There are 2 computers, very reliable and fast wifi. Hotel staff didn't speak much English but were very friendly and helpful. All drinks (water and soft drinks) were free. On rainy days,... More

I was hesitant about booking this hotel because there weren't many reviews on it, but I'm glad I did. It was a refreshing change from my previous hotel in Japan, which felt like closet. This hotel is a lot more spacious and they even upgraded me to a suite on the 10th floor with a balcony. That meant I had... More

This is a really nice hotel. The staff went out of their way to help us find vegetarian food in the neighborhood. They also came up to our room to show us how everything in the room works. This was very helpful for non- Korean speakers like us. Everything was clean and the bed was the most comfortable we've found... More

Good place! near subway and can walk to shopping. Many resturant. Not far from Dong Dae Mun , E Tae Wan , Gwanghwamun , MyeongDong. When you come from Airport use Jongno3 Exit 5/6 (130BlueLine/534PurpleLine/329OrangeLine) or you can use airportbus if you ve many baggage.

This hotel in Jongno in Seoul is value for money. Yes it's a love hotel but you don't notice it really! The rooms are a bit smaller than on the pictures but overall they are comfortable and the jacuzzi is always nice after a long day walking in Seoul. Reception staff was friendly and helpful.

We stayed four nights at the hotel Amare. Everything was great. The location is perfect (very close to the Jongno 3 Ga station, many streetfood tents and Western and Korean restaurants nearby). The room was big (we booked a standard room) and clean, equipped with a jacuzzi bathtub, a big flat TV screen, two computers and a minibar (free). The... More

We were staying at the next door Hotel Pop, decided to jump ship after 3 days. The decor here is nicer and newer. I walked in and was surprise how much cheaper than our hotel, and it is even cheaper if we check in after 10pm. There were a lot of restaurant just outside the next street and walking to... More

Clean room with nice clean decor. We had room 1007 which is the top floor. Two computers and sub, huge tv, shampoo, conditioner, sponge, flat iron, blow dyer, brushes, hairspray, face lotions and toners, body lotions. They also refill the free bottled water, powerade, barley tea and orange juice daily when the room is cleaned.

Hotel is close to the road but as there are other side roads, might get a little confusing. The rooms provided were really spacious and tall. Amenities provided (a 36inch TV, 2 PCs, Jacuzzi, Automated light censors)were also all in working order. Staff were courteous and helpful. Arrived early and they offered to store my bags first while i went... More

Staying in Gwanghwamun / Jongno

Neighborhood Profile
Gwanghwamun / Jongno
If Gwanghwamun is the unofficial living room of Seoul, Jongno is the main hallway connecting some of Seoul’s most important historic sites and neighborhoods. Being one of Seoul’s oldest neighborhoods, the area is rich with history and culture in its palaces, shrines, and temples. Stand in the center of Gwanghwamun Square with Gyeongbokgung Palace and Mt. Bugak in front of you, King Sejong the Great statue behind you, and modern office buildings encircling you—it’s one of the best ways to experience both past and present Seoul in one spot. The main street of Jongno is mostly dotted with restaurants and cafes, but explore deeper within its intricate alleys to pass decades-old restaurants, mom-and-pop shops, and pojangmachas (tents that open at night for quick bites and drinks) and life seems to run just as it did a decade or two ago. Don’t forget to stop at Gwangjang Market, Korea’s oldest traditional market, where it’s just as fun to explore as it is to eat the affordable market dishes that locals have been enjoying since the market first opened in 1905. For a break from urban life, walk along the restored Cheonggyecheon Stream that runs parallel to Jongno for a moment of natural refuge in metropolitan Seoul.
