Great location, close to markets and malls, a spot to pick up eg international sim card nearby, quiet rooms. Once you get past the shock how small the room is :), it is actually quite nice and truly cozy. And yes you basically shower on the bathroom floor, but that's usual in Korea. The front desk is on the 10th... More

Stayed there for 5 nights in November 2012. Location was good, near Hoehyeon stn, airport limousine(6015). Namdaemum market just a stone's throw away! Walking distance to Myeong-dong shopping streets and N Seoul Tower. Easy to explore the Seoul city as tourist. Front desk service was helpful and friendly, they allowed us to check-in early around 8am. Breakfast was good but... More

There were both positive and negative sides to our stay here. The positive: was central to markets and heart of shopping district - the hype of Seoul was at the front door. We had a room for four adults which few hotels offer. Price was reasonable for Seoul. Negative: staff not overly friendly, rooms had not been earned that well... More

Room was small but ok, staff were friendly & helpful. Located within nandaenum markets. Close to most amenities - shinsagae dept store, minutes walk to n.seoul tower and myeong dong, included breakfast was ok.

I stayed in this hotel 3 nights in the end of the february. The location was perfect, but the room was small and very cold. The heating system didn't work. I think it was a bit too expensive when I compare their rooms and the price. On the other hand the breakfast was included in the room's price and that... More

If shopping is your thing, then this is it! Located within Namdaemun market, opposite to Shinsagae Department store, and walking distance to the Myeong Dong markets and Lotte department stores. Our room had two double beds, paying AUD85 per night which was a pretty good deal. Our room was on lvl 8. We had buffet breakfast which consists of Korean... More

The good points: Very convenient location, right in the middle of Namdaemun market, within walking distance to Hoehyeong subway station, Shinsagae department store, Namdaemun Gate & Myeongdong shopping area. Although the name has "Myoungdong" in it, its actually in the Namdaemun area. There is also a delicious BBQ restaurant next door. Free wifi available. The bad points: I shared a... More

The MOST convenient hotel - (almost) walking distance from Seoul station, right in Myeoung dong market. Great staff, free internet, good buffet breakfast. Don't be put off by the small room sizes - there's plenty of space, you just have to be tidy. Rooms without windows are not as depressing as you might think - you don't even notice thanks... More

Contrary to the recent reviews, i had no problem with the bathroom, the toilet and shower area are separated, not too big but both have enough space. The bathroom don't have a smell and they even provide air freshener. Accommodating & friendly hotel & restaurant staff. Very near the station and Myeongdong area. Also, breakfast is good. Our rooms were... More

Staying in Myeongdong / Namdaemun

Neighborhood Profile
Myeongdong / Namdaemun
Arguably Seoul’s most famous neighborhood and undoubtedly one of its most popular, Myeongdong takes shopping and eating to new heights, with hundreds of shops, restaurants, and cafes all stacked on top of one another. The rise in popularity of Korean cosmetics, fashion, and more has made this area a must-see for visitors who come and marvel at Myeongdong’s often frenetic pace and energy. Lotte and Shinsaegae’s massive department stores are also popular draws for both Korean and luxury products. The department stores, just like Myeongdong’s streets, are crowded around the clock. Myeongdong’s many street food carts are also immensely popular for their inexpensive and quirky offerings (French-fry-encrusted corn dogs, anyone?). The neighborhood’s popularity, as well as its close proximity to other popular sights and neighborhoods, makes it one of Seoul’s most popular places to stay.
