Blanca and I stayed here last year and it was such an amazingly friendly and comfortable guest house. In fact it was so good that we are are making a side trip in November 2015 just to stay there again and experience the ambience of this wonderful guesthouse. The family that operate 126 mansion (all lovely girls and their Mother)... More

Warm, cosy & clean. Rooms are above the nicely decorated cafe where you have your breakfast included in the package. Rooms are clean and cosy, complete with cable channels, air conditioning or heater as appropriate for the season. Fresh sets of towels are also available daily. Basic amenities like water dispenser, electric kettle, coffee/ tea are available at the common... More

I have been staying at 126 Mansion for 2 nights during the preliminary stages of a longer stay in Seoul for an exchange semester. Coming from abroad with this little sense of uncertainty what to expect regarding my upcoming time, I really felt welcomed and familiar in Seoul and Korea right away thanks to this place. My room was cosy... More

Blanca and I booked to stay at 126 mansion for 7 nights but stayed another 10 nights. It was like staying with new family and friends. The girls and their mother are sensational. Nothing is too much trouble. Rooms are very nice and if you can, book 201, large room with window overlooking the folk museum. Very safe and secure... More

126 mansion is a lovely place place to stay while traveling in Korea. I was impressed by the interior design when I first came to this guest house, it is really artistic and stylish. I love the details of each furniture and the paintings drew by the owner. And the room has everything you need, you don't need to bother... More

126 Mansion is located next to the Blue House. The area is quiet and safe (how can it not be safe when it is next to the President's home). It is within the Samcheong-dong area where there are lots of cafes, bakery, eatery, and boutiques. Each shop has its own uniqueness and you will simply love the atmosphere there and... More

Staying at this guest house was a fantastic experience. I was in Seoul for the first time and travelling on my own. The owners were so welcoming and friendly, for example, sharing dinner with me and providing me with a lot of interesting information on Seoul and Korea. The location is great, right by Gyeongbuk Palace and about a 15... More

Very homely place with friendly and welcoming owners. Owners were helpful and very accomodating, they gave us an extra heater for the room as we were stoll cold. The room is a little small but it gives it a cosy feeling and all the necessities are provided. Give the food in their cafe a try, breakfast was simple but delicious... More

I've stayed here twice, the first time was in March of 2012 and the second one was April of 2014. I have written about why I love 126 Mansion in these two posts: http://janiscooking.wordpress.com/2012/04/19/seoul-series-why-i-love-126-mansion/ http://janiscooking.wordpress.com/2014/06/06/heart-and-seoul-2014-our-seoul-itinerary-for-5-days/ Here are my reasons why I love 126 Mansion and why I think it will be hard for others to beat this guesthouse: 1. 126 Mansion is a lovely guest house located next to the palace in an art district just a short walk away from Insadong. The house itself is beautifully decorated and the hosts make you feel right at home from the moment you step through the door. It really feels like a cosy home rather than another bland hotel. The rooms... More

Staying in Samcheongdong / Bukchon

Neighborhood Profile
Samcheongdong / Bukchon
This historic neighborhood was traditionally home to Seoul’s middle and upper-classes. Now it’s most famed for its clusters of beautiful, traditional Korean homes (called hanok), many of which are found in Bukchon. Many of these homes have now been converted into restaurants, cafes, shops, and even guesthouses, and their unique architecture offers a look at Korea’s traditional beauty. Samcheongdong’s main and side streets attract locals and tourists alike for their quaint and charming scenery, while the Blue House (Cheong Wa Dae) serves as the residence for South Korea’s president. Art fans will love exploring the many independent and private art galleries in the area.
