This is our first time stayed at Hanok. We stayed at family room with private bathroom for 5D4N. The owner are friendly and helpful. Yoo's Family Guesthouse Location is near the Anguk Station (5 minutes walk), airport limousine station, and near the Jongno 3 (sam)-ga station (15 minutes walk). The small kitchenette is very helpful for us to made instant... More

This is my second time to stay in Yoo's Family. The surprise this time was that the rooms were re-modeled to include a private bathroom. This private bathroom adds a lot of value to staying in a budget traditional Korean house. Rooms are basic but clean. The location is convenient, just 5 minutes walk from metro Anguk Station exit 4.... More

We love this place to bits! The owner is so friendly and helpful. They even offer traditional hanbok wearing and photography for a small fee. Did I mention they have wide range of hanbok designs. Location wise it is around 2-3KM from nearest subway station Jogno-3-ga Exit 7. This direction is much easier as compared to if you stop at... More

Yeorumjip/Yoo’s family guesthouse offers hanok style accommodation where the facilities are basic and clean. Mrs Yoo will email the airport bus details once reservation is made and we managed to walk to the guesthouse with three suitcases and our 5-year old within 10 minutes. We were pleasantly surprised with the size as well as strong shower in the ensuite bathroom.... More

Was really fun staying in a traditional Korean guesthouse. Room was spacious and well decorated. Bathroom was functional. Location was great. Breakfast was cup of noodle, juice box, bread, basic cereal. The Yoo's were very friendly and accommodating. The only minor downside was no parking.

We wanted to stay in a traditional, Korean guesthouse (Han-Ok) and a friend told us about www.yoosfamily.com. It turned out that she had never stayed at the place but only heard about it. The location is great, about 50 meters from Chang-Duk-Gung and fairly easy to find. We stayed at the Yeoreum Jip (Summer House). There is a large, glass... More

It was a pleasantly unique experience. The room was smaller than I imagined (even with a complimentary upgrade which was greatly appreciated). The bathroom amenities wasn't really what I was comfortable with but I managed to cope through it. The location, however, was excellent and Mr and Mrs Yoo were friendly and helpful. Mr Yoo made special kimbab for his... More

I stayed here for couple of days. The reason why I chose here, was to experience something new, something I can only enjoy in Korea. And I got what I exactly wanted. It is very Korean traditional inside and outside of the house. Also, this place is closed to many tourist attractions, so I didn't have hard time placing them.... More

I am a Korean, but even for me, it was very nice and exotic experience. The location is soooooooooo good. You can walk to almost every tourist attraction of Seoul. The room was clean, and warm. Staffs were very nice as well. And they provide breakfast, so I didn't have to spend extra money on breakfast. Anyone who wants to... More

Staying in Gwanghwamun / Jongno

Neighborhood Profile
Gwanghwamun / Jongno
If Gwanghwamun is the unofficial living room of Seoul, Jongno is the main hallway connecting some of Seoul’s most important historic sites and neighborhoods. Being one of Seoul’s oldest neighborhoods, the area is rich with history and culture in its palaces, shrines, and temples. Stand in the center of Gwanghwamun Square with Gyeongbokgung Palace and Mt. Bugak in front of you, King Sejong the Great statue behind you, and modern office buildings encircling you—it’s one of the best ways to experience both past and present Seoul in one spot. The main street of Jongno is mostly dotted with restaurants and cafes, but explore deeper within its intricate alleys to pass decades-old restaurants, mom-and-pop shops, and pojangmachas (tents that open at night for quick bites and drinks) and life seems to run just as it did a decade or two ago. Don’t forget to stop at Gwangjang Market, Korea’s oldest traditional market, where it’s just as fun to explore as it is to eat the affordable market dishes that locals have been enjoying since the market first opened in 1905. For a break from urban life, walk along the restored Cheonggyecheon Stream that runs parallel to Jongno for a moment of natural refuge in metropolitan Seoul.
