I reserved a 4-bed room for me and 3 friends on a Saturday night in November. When we arrived in our room around 10pm, the room and house reeked of cigarette smoke. I was told the hostel waa non-smoking. Called the owners who said they would come over, but they never did and stopped answering their phone. The smell was... More

I've stayed in this property twice. Back at 2011, I stayed in a private room which was really nice placed in a quiet 2nd floor. I was running real late from the airport but the host at that time, MK, was really helpful and friendly during the 'late' check-in. Last two weeks, my friends and I stayed in their dormitory... I'm still confused why this guesthouse is a pick in lonely planet guide book. Pros: The staff are lovely and very helpful and friendly. They speak excellent English and very helpful with the booking. You can enter the hostel any time with no curfew which is nice. Free breakfast., Cons: We stayed in a really small 3 bedroom room -... More

LOCATION: I've stayed in Bebop twice: first in the original location, then in the newer one. Bebop Guesthouse is a 15-minute walk from the Hongdae (Hongik University) metro station. For those of you who aren’t familiar with Hongdae, it’s sort of an indie art district in Seoul that’s really popular with university students. It’s also famous for it’s very busy... More

I have been here twice. Loved it the first time but was disappointed the 2nd time round. It was not as polished( place was not as clean and as well kept as before)as before too many junk of a furniture and the change of beds-harder beds. Overall for a perfect location and just for sleeping, the price was slightly abit... More

I may be biased since when I stayed only a few people were there, and I had a 6-bed dormitory for myself, but I enjoyed my stay there. The landlord is very helpful, and can book tickets for tourist attractions such as the DMZ, the beds are okay for the price, the house is clean and not too noisy. A... More

It's at a very convenient location, 10 minutes away from metro and airport bus station. There are many restaurants around metro station area. It can get very busy over the weekend at the guesthouse. If your room is next to the bathroom, you might have a trouble sleeping as there are too many ppl in and out from 6am to... More

it was a nice and cute hostel. the owners were almost never around. clean for the most part. but def had a SERIOUSLY BAD mosquito problem in the bedrooms. in one night alone i got bit over 30 times. and i only managed to sleep for 3 hours due to that fact. those buggers were vicious.

Staying in Hongdae

Neighborhood Profile
Hongdae
Carefree enthusiasm is everywhere in this energetic neighborhood centered on Hongik University, Korea’s top art school. From its assortment of murals to the occasional amateur street performances, creativity and expression make up the wild and beating heart of vibrant Hongdae. At the Free and Hope Market (weekends at the Hongdae Children’s Playground) you'll find one of Seoul’s most popular handmade and creative markets drawing consistent crowds. At Hongdae, there’s never a shortage of things to do and see; food and drink options are nearly endless as are shops and noraebang (karaoke) rooms. Hongdae is also one of Seoul’s top party and club scenes catering to a younger demographic; if a packed club isn’t your scene, you'll also find a range of music venues and bars offering live music in all genres. Although Hongdae has lost much of its unique appeal and undergone rapid commercialization in recent years, be sure to explore Hongdae’s edges in areas such as Sangsu-dong and Yeonnam-dong where Hongdae’s fiercely independent streak still runs freely.
