Authentic traditional small huts give a good feel for historic Korea. Shared bath and futons on the floor are the norm but this one had a 2 bedroom set with 1bathroom between them for our party of 5. Great value so we spent on guides what we saved on rooms. Excellent Korean breakfast was included. Kids can dress up in... More

Imagine it's your first visit to Korea, and you don't speak or write Korean fluently...imagine you'd like to avoid large, distant, impersonal hotels, and like to walk around observing and meeting people. You'd like to try sleeping on Ondol (heated) flooring in a simple and clean room. Imagine someone lovingly and painstakingly makes you breakfast every morning and serves in... More

We stayed in Bukchon Guest House #1 for a night, just to get the experience of staying in a hanok. The place was within walking distance from Exit 3 of Anguk station. If you are taking the Airport Limousine number 6011, it stops near Exit 6 or the lifts. Rather than taking the lift, walk straight towards Exit 5 (left... More

We stayed at Bukchon Guest House #2 for 2 nights. We love the environment of both inside and outside the house. The coffee shops around are very attractive. The hostess is very nice and she made korean-style breakfast for us everyday. Yummy! We will come back in next visit.

My wife and I spent five nights at the Bukchon Guest House #2 in Seoul. While smaller than #1, and lacking the impressive courtyard, it's nonetheless a very nice building in an extremely convenient location (which is also one of Seoul's most picturesque neighborhoods). Guests should be prepared to sleep on thin mats set on the ground, which can make... More

If you want to experience living in a traditional Korean house, then this place is for you! Room The room is just right for 2 persons. We slept on the heated floor. The comforter is so soft which made us slept soundly at night. The room we got has its own toilet and bath. We encountered some problem with the... More

We stayed there for 2 nights during our visit to Seoul in April 2014. I have been longing to stay in this guesthouse since 3 years ago but always fully booked and finally I made it for my trip in April. Location of the place is strategic (only 5mins walk from Anguk station), cleanliness of the place is superb -... More

Stayed at Bukchon House 3 twice. First with a friend and 2nd with my family. It's around 10 min walk from Anguk subway station so consider this after a day of long walks around Seoul. Im not sure bout the other Bukchon houses but in House 3, you're pretty much on your own (like you'll just make your own breakfast... More

Staying in Samcheongdong / Bukchon

Neighborhood Profile
Samcheongdong / Bukchon
This historic neighborhood was traditionally home to Seoul’s middle and upper-classes. Now it’s most famed for its clusters of beautiful, traditional Korean homes (called hanok), many of which are found in Bukchon. Many of these homes have now been converted into restaurants, cafes, shops, and even guesthouses, and their unique architecture offers a look at Korea’s traditional beauty. Samcheongdong’s main and side streets attract locals and tourists alike for their quaint and charming scenery, while the Blue House (Cheong Wa Dae) serves as the residence for South Korea’s president. Art fans will love exploring the many independent and private art galleries in the area.
