The Grape Garden House has been newly refurbished. We stayed in a 2 bed private ensuite room, and while it was cosy and the beds a little utilitarian, we slept well and the showers were hot and powerful, so what more could you ask for! The room was clean, but the toilet could have been cleaned a little better before... More

The "6-Bed Mixed Dorm" had three sets of bunk beds and used up most of the space in the room. There was a mirror and small night stand by one of the bunk beds and there were small lockers with lock and key for valuables behind the door. The room itself didn't have a lock but the main door to... More

I was bent on staying in Hongdae for this trip and was looking through the many guesthouses that were available in the area. After comparing prices, Grape Garden House (GGH) provided the cheapest twin room (I could find). It is only a short walk from the train station, through the walk you get to walk past many boutiques and cafes... More

I love this location in Hongdae! It's really close to many bars and restaurants in a great location in Seoul. Hip, young area of Seoul that's tons of fun. I highly recommend this guest house for that reason. It was very, very clean and quiet and super easy to get to the subway.

I stayed here for 1 night on September 16, 2012 in a single private room. This hostel has two physical location. The private room I stayed at is two houses down. The free breakfast is only at the main house which is not a big deal. The room is decent. It is quite and tucked away so I didn't need... More

I was one of the first guests at Grape Garden House when it started some years ago. I cannot hold my happiness to see how Grape Garden House shows up so easily on google search and has been improving in popularity over the time. It totally deserves the praise. The location is awesome, handy and just perfect and transportation is... More

Great location, right in the university area but away from all the noise. The staff were very friendly. We've stayed in a few different hostels in Seoul, this one is our favourite. We're going back to stay there again next week!

Amazing guest house, has come along ways in just a few years. GGH is a great place to stay, quiet at night, and a friendly staff during the day. Very Clean. Staying at GGH for over a year when i come to Korea, my favorite thing about it, is the staff, the other guests, and the oppurtunites... (the staff) whatever... More

Staying in Hongdae

Neighborhood Profile
Hongdae
Carefree enthusiasm is everywhere in this energetic neighborhood centered on Hongik University, Korea’s top art school. From its assortment of murals to the occasional amateur street performances, creativity and expression make up the wild and beating heart of vibrant Hongdae. At the Free and Hope Market (weekends at the Hongdae Children’s Playground) you'll find one of Seoul’s most popular handmade and creative markets drawing consistent crowds. At Hongdae, there’s never a shortage of things to do and see; food and drink options are nearly endless as are shops and noraebang (karaoke) rooms. Hongdae is also one of Seoul’s top party and club scenes catering to a younger demographic; if a packed club isn’t your scene, you'll also find a range of music venues and bars offering live music in all genres. Although Hongdae has lost much of its unique appeal and undergone rapid commercialization in recent years, be sure to explore Hongdae’s edges in areas such as Sangsu-dong and Yeonnam-dong where Hongdae’s fiercely independent streak still runs freely.
