I can't believe anyone would write a good review on this place. I'm fairly flexible, world travelled with reasonable expectations but this was by far a horrible place. First its in shambles with construction going on, over grown and unattended gardens, broken pots and other sorts, filthy room and bathroom, flies, trash and rooms that are patched up and a... More

The owner was very helpful with the booking, and very friendly. Furthermore, in a panic to make the plane on the day of my departure, I left 47,000 Japanese Yen behind. The owner contacted me and sent it to my address in Japan. Top man. If you want a genuine experience, book and stay here. It is really rudimentary, but... More

We booked this on the recommendation of a friend and a look at their website. When we arrived the room was dirty and significantly over-priced for a mattress on the floor and a hose for a shower (100K Won per night). It is an understatement to say this guest house is significantly misrepresented on their website. We decided immediately we... More

We stayed in one of their 120k Won 'Special' rooms for 5 nights. In summary I would say these rooms are over priced, little effort has been made to make them authentic, and the place fails on my main criteria for a hotel, a good nights sleep - its very noisy with doors banging, people talking etc. For me the... I stayed here for 2 nights such an awesome place! It's more than I expected ,silence, cleanness, security and felt like home. If you looking for an authentic Korean traditional house style (Hanok). The room was so beautiful and unique where located among the nature and near the central Seoul's main attractions.I definitely suggest you to go here!

Great place to stay, friendly, good value, charismatic, enjoy! Great location- download the map from their website to make it easy to find the first time though. Very nice little hanok area with a good balance of restaurants nearby. Also, did us a load of washing for free! We stayed in both a big room and the delux. Delux had... More

After having spent a week in the south we arrived to Seoul willing to experience a traditional guest house. The room was tiny, and narrow. The owner asked to be paid immediately and since we were tired and the owner nicely came to look for us at the metro station we paid the first night. The day after when we... More

We stayed at Sarangchae, a pavilion that was located at the top of Seoul Guest House. It has its own gate to enter. The pavilion has 3 bedroom, a bathroom and a small 'living room'. They provided gallons of water (in a dispenser), fridge, TV, towels, tea, coffee and a free wifi. The guest house is really clean, quite and... More

Just like in the photos this traditional guest home. Take the Anguk station exit toward Hyundai corporate office bldg on the corner. Slide up the street two blocks to a sidestreet no wider than a car. The entrance is private and set well back from the road. The dog is wonderful and friendly and a great guard dog. The Korean... Our family of four stayed here for two July nights in the roomy "Special Room" and I have to say it was a fun experience that helped us connect with Seoul in a unique way. Other reviewers have accurately used descriptors such as "rustic", "quaint", "peaceful", "simple", "pleasant" and "small". We found the hosts and their house to be pleasant... More

Staying in Samcheongdong / Bukchon

Neighborhood Profile
Samcheongdong / Bukchon
This historic neighborhood was traditionally home to Seoul’s middle and upper-classes. Now it’s most famed for its clusters of beautiful, traditional Korean homes (called hanok), many of which are found in Bukchon. Many of these homes have now been converted into restaurants, cafes, shops, and even guesthouses, and their unique architecture offers a look at Korea’s traditional beauty. Samcheongdong’s main and side streets attract locals and tourists alike for their quaint and charming scenery, while the Blue House (Cheong Wa Dae) serves as the residence for South Korea’s president. Art fans will love exploring the many independent and private art galleries in the area.
