My husband and I recently stayed here for four nights (25-29 January 2016) for our 'adventure' honeymoon. A few days before our arrival, we received an email from the guest house saying that we'll be upgraded to the ondol room from our double, as there has been a mix up somewhere. I was a bit worried, especially after reading other... More

We came earlier and the workers let us in! We got a room quickly although is not our original rooms but it worth the rest since we had just arrived from HK via transit. The rooms have the basic amenities and the location is very important - near to the mrt as well! will be staying again for sure -... More

Upon arrival at the airport you only have to take bus #6011 at Terminal 5B or 12A or any bus stop where bus #6011 will pass by, then alight at Changdeokgung Palace bus station. Last bus is 23:00hrs and fare is 10,000KWon. We arrived Korea in the evening but we don't have any difficulty finding it. Suggest that you take... More

We stayed here 3 nights and it was interesting to meet the staff, the other guests. The room was with private toilet with comfortable beds. The whole guesthouse looked like its was a big family house. The breakfast is very simple, but because of it's location, you can get food in almost every corner. The neighborhood is super calm and... The hotel was hard to find, especially if you cannot speak korean to explain to the taxi driver the location. Also, the rooms and bathroom are small. However, the staff were very friendly and the prices are cheap. There is an easy check-in and check-out. The guesthouse is full of cats, so if you're not a cat person, refrain from... More

We felt so good at Beewan that we stayed another night. Although the hotel is cheap, you get a lot of advantages: a kitchen where to cook, free wifi and breakfast, nice cats :-). The owner like meeting new people and is very friendly, offering us korean cakes and sweets. We felt like at home!

Everything you need for a budget is in here. It is clean. Near a subway and bus station. It is quite peaceful outside. Though i guess youd have a hard time finding it. But still it is safe even going out at night and going back to the hostel. The wifi is not that fast but still okay, password will... More

Friendly staff, clean room, nice breakfast as wasn't expecting some ahjooma to cook korean rice cake for us as breakfast. Feel like in a korean home indeed. One drawback was that we booked for two double room but only given one double room and another double bunk bed. They should have reserved both double room for us.

Excellent place, with very friendly staff. After 12 years of service, the owner still can't speak basic English. Nevertheless, she is very friendly and can make herself understandable in funny ways. Speaking with the rest of the staff is quite easy and everybody wants to make your stay in Korea as comfortable as possible. The hostel offers air dryer, strong... More

The hotel rooms are clean. Neighborhood is quiet with a convenience store near the place. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. Location is good. There are many places of interest which is near like the Changdeokgung Palace, Changgyeonggung Palace and Insadong. Myeongdong and Dongdaemun are a subway ride away. All rooms have wifi including the common areas.

Staying in Gwanghwamun / Jongno

Neighborhood Profile
Gwanghwamun / Jongno
If Gwanghwamun is the unofficial living room of Seoul, Jongno is the main hallway connecting some of Seoul’s most important historic sites and neighborhoods. Being one of Seoul’s oldest neighborhoods, the area is rich with history and culture in its palaces, shrines, and temples. Stand in the center of Gwanghwamun Square with Gyeongbokgung Palace and Mt. Bugak in front of you, King Sejong the Great statue behind you, and modern office buildings encircling you—it’s one of the best ways to experience both past and present Seoul in one spot. The main street of Jongno is mostly dotted with restaurants and cafes, but explore deeper within its intricate alleys to pass decades-old restaurants, mom-and-pop shops, and pojangmachas (tents that open at night for quick bites and drinks) and life seems to run just as it did a decade or two ago. Don’t forget to stop at Gwangjang Market, Korea’s oldest traditional market, where it’s just as fun to explore as it is to eat the affordable market dishes that locals have been enjoying since the market first opened in 1905. For a break from urban life, walk along the restored Cheonggyecheon Stream that runs parallel to Jongno for a moment of natural refuge in metropolitan Seoul.
