Staff are smiling and pleasant as in most of Yangon but some rooms are among the worst in town with no windows, smelly old and dirty carpets and noisy AC. It is however aligned with the average Yangon hotel The old wooden floor rooms have ancient toilets but have decent beds and overlook the town hall which means you are... More

last 2 weeks, I stayed at City Star Hotel with my friends.I think it is a great place to stay as it is situated in the heart of Yangon and guest can easily to any other famous places such as Sule Pagoda,Bogyoke market etc.So next time,if I have a chance to stay there,I would choose again that.

We stayed here for 5 days in early December, our first trip to Myanmar. Not expecting much and having been told that hotels generally are poor value in Myanmar we were not surprised at the unrenovated circa 1980s decor and fittings. For a "superior" twin room which included an outdoor balcony for an interesting view over the city (but not... More

I stayed a few times at this hotel latest 14 years ago. Coming back was a bad experience, nothing had really been changed or been maintained in a proper way. Even hot water was not available, and internet was a challenge by itself. Breakfast was greazy and cold, no variations. Tiles around the entrance of the hotel were all totally... More

It was very pleasant stay for us here so we booked again for our last 2 days in Yangon. The location is very close to Sule pagoda, City hall, Maha bandoola park, mosque and small shops. The staffs are helpful, they helped us arrange to hire taxi for day trip to Bago and Kyaikto/golden rock. Internet wifi in room is... More

While you can't beat the location of this hotel in Yangon (right next to the Sule Pagoda and the City Hall) it unfortunately suffers from very dirty rooms. Most visitors to Myanmar accept that the hospitality industry there is still in its infancy, but that doesn't mean that you have to put up with rooms like that for $55/night, which... More

I've heard many good things about this hotel.....but unfortunately did not experienced it. The rooms....dark, noisy air conditioner, musty smell, stained towels, and torn bedsheets. The air conditioner also started spitting out freon on to the bed and curtains. When I contacted the receptionist, they sent someone up who just wiped the air conditioner on the outside and informed us... More

my parents always stayed at this hotel whenever they visit this city. so I decided to do the same. my luck. Just change the owner few days before my arrival with my family to Yangon. no more massage center, no more help you to book a flight to another city in Myanmar and there are lots of "no more". As... I stayed at the City Star Hotel in 2002 and 2005. The price then was $25 / $30. When we booked this time the price we were told was $80, when we arrived 6 weeks later they asked for $95 ( we settled for $80 in the end). The location just 5 mins from Sule Pagoda and behind City Hall... More

We stayed twice in this hotel during our four weeks in Burma and had a few unpleasant surprises. The first time, we walked in when we needed one more night in the city than planned but could not stay at the hotel we had spent the first two nights in because the rooms there were all taken by a tour...
