In my opinion this property is superior to the Strand, which I have reviewed separately. It is in much better shape, without the deferred maintenance issues of the Strand. And it was much less expensive. I didn't see many rooms, but ours was quite spacious and comfortable. The service is very good, the bar and restaurant cozy (and I don't... More

We stayed at the Savoy for four nights in September 2010 and loved its colonial feel with cool wooden floors and original colonial style furniture. Our room was very spacious and quiet with a small terrace that overlooked the pool. The staff were lovely and very gracious and the breakfasts were generous and leisurely. I was a nice introduction to... More

I was here about 10 days ago and barely remember the place, which is why I am giving it an average rating. The rooms are large and it definitely fit my desire to stay someplace that felt like it belonged where it was (that is, not a big commercialized hotel). Still, nothing out it stands out - not the rooms,... More

We really loved the Savoy. If you are looking for old world charm without a huge price tag – this hotel fits the bill. Through a local agent we paid $100 for a deluxe room. We can’t understand some of the other negative reviews – we saw none of the mould etc. Perhaps our room had been renovated. It was... More

My wife and I spent 4 nights at Savoy Hotel in Yangon in June 2012 during our first visit to Myanmar and were delighted with the experience. I am 69 and my wife is in her early 60s. The Savoy was the perfect base for our explorations of Myanmar's largest city. Taxis cost only US$2-$3 to just about anywhere. Staff... More

I just spent 11 nights in Yangon at the Savoy Hotel. I TOTALLY recommend it. The rooms were great (powerful and reliable air conditioning-critical in the climate), the staff welcoming, helpful and hospitable, the food excellent, and the overall experience completely positive. I look forward to coming back again soon. Dick Simon

Stayed for three nights in total at the Savoy in Yangon. The food is delicious with a good breakfast buffet. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel was undergoing some renovation when we were there, but I can only assume this will improve even further the overall standard of this hotel. One small down side, I did feel... More

We spent three nights at the Savoy, and except for the smoking in the bar (which wafted about most of the public areas of the hotel), we had a nice stay. The rooms were clean, and the bathrooms very nice. Our breakfast was simple but adequate. The location is perfect for visiting the Schwedagon Pagoda and much easier to get... More

We stayed at three of Yangon's luxury hotels during our visit. This was our favorite. It offers friendly, comfortable luxury without being over formal or pretentious. The staff was friendly and helpful. The location is good for Shwe Dagon and local dining. When we return, this is where we'll stay.

Stayed here for 1 night at the end of May. This is low season in Myanmar so the hotel was very quiet. It is a lovely old colonial building on a busy corner just outside the centre of town. The staff were super helpful and couldn't do enough to help - organise early wake up call, breakfast in my room,... More

The Savoy Hotel is a four star colonial boutique hotel committed to personalized and attentive service. It is ideally located in a picturesque area of Yangon overlooking the Shwedagon Pagoda, Myanmar’s “twinkling wonder” and nearby the People’s Park.
