This was a haven near the heart of Yangon. Beautiful gardens, excellent restaurant, and lovely rooms albeit without much closet space. Be sure and try the Burmese buffet one night. It was excellent and gave us a real appreciation of Myanmar food----much like Thai but not spicy. The al a carte was excellent too along with the breakfast buffet. Very... More

This proved to be the best of our accommodation in Burma. It is an oasis with its luxurious palm garden and pool, comfortable room with stone bath. It suited us very well. The rooms were very well appointed and had every amenity. The staff were keen to please and always ready to help. On our first night the hotel had... More

We didn't actually stay here, but we were recommended the place for drinks or dinner. We did both. Drinks one night; drinks and dinner the second night (as we liked it so much). Governor's Residence is indeed very decadent and if you had a suspension of disbelief for a minute, you could imagine yourself in colonial Burma as the Governor... More

We spent two nights in this hotel in Yangon after arrival and before departure. The hotel is situated in a quiet part of Yangon, close to several embassies. It is about 20 min by foot from the spectacular Shwedagon Pagoda, if you dare crossing the streets without any zebra crossings through the sometimes heavy traffic. You will not miss anything... Amongst the hubbub of Yangon can be found a wonderful hotel. The governors residence provides a bubble of calm quality . The rooms are not huge but spacious enough.the bathroom has a large stone bath which swallows up the aches of the day's sightseeing. Wellcome champagne was a nice touch though not drunk! Every evening a cocktail party on the... More

OK, let’s get this out of the way: this is a very expensive hotel. So what do you get for your bucks? First of all this is a tremendously beautiful property. A perfectly maintained colonial building with a big garden and one of the nicest pools I have ever seen. The rooms are spacious and designed in the same colonial... More

A truly Colonial Hotel in Yangon, beautifully maintained and like many of the Hotels and Restaurants in Burma (Myanmar) much of the Hotel , the Luxury Guest Rooms, Accommodation and the Mandalay Restaurant are all made with Teak Wood. Definitely worth staying here with superb friendly service. Go to the Kipling Bar (named after Rudyard Kipling) for a cool drink... More

My wife and I stayed here for two nights at the start of our tour of Myanmar and also for one night at the end. I cannot praise the quality of this hotel enough. It was charming with comfortable rooms in lovely grounds. It is situated in a quiet part of town in the embassy area but close enough to... More

This is a hidden jewel in Yangon. Only place to stay for ultimate luxury. Beautiful, serene setting. Excellent food, fabulous service, great drinks. In a residential neighborhood, very quiet and peaceful. Beautifully decorated, unsure how they could improve. Expensive but worth it.

We stayed twice at this hotel in January/February 2015. It is a delight and without question the best hotel in Yangon. Well located on a quiet elegant street near the centre, it is a hospitable friendly oasis. Rooms are comfortable, Belmond quality and spacious. Two restaurants of high calibre and magnificent brunch buffet at weekend. Most everybody speaks some English... More
