I stayed with my partner on two occasions in March - for 2 nights at the beginning of our trip that included the Road to Mandalay - and 1 night at the end. On our first visit we arrived at around 10am after our flights from the UK. After reading Tripadvisor reviews I had requested a room on an upper... More

When you are charged USD 820 a night you expect only the best...booked a car to welcome us at airport.. a van from the 90"s with terrible smell was our vehicle including graffiti in the ceiling..oh no is this the 1st impression ,,,arrived to the hotel to be giving probably the worst room with an aircon that hardly allow us... We stayed twice once before and after our cruise on the Orcaella. .Excellent staff and great colonial/Burmese atmosphere but with everything you would find in a 6 star hotel. Each day there would be a free activity for guests e.g. ,tour of local art galleries a tour of,chinatown, cocktail party to minge with executive staff and fellow guests. We enjoyed... More

A beautiful hotel - a very expensive bar; a good restaurant. Biggest problem, it is far from the city center. It is a great place to rest and relax - bring your swimsuit. The people make it special, as they do everywhere in Myanmar.

We had the lovely opportunity to stay twice at the Residence and wish we could have stayed again and again. The ambience, staff. dining and pool combination was beyond our expectations. The gift shop is also worth looking into. On our first part of the journey, we were allocated a room on the first floor, large, quite and although one... More

This is an extraordinary place. It is an oasis of tranquillity in a hugely congested and busy city. The hotel is charming. There is the sound of running water wherever you go. The food is really good. The breakfasts are superb and lunch too. The Burmese we met wherever we went were charming and the Belmond staff no exception. Behind... More

The Governors Residence has this special classical old colonial world charm and character, which you don't find a any new hotels. That's what's keep them going. But expect old fashioned hotel rooms that calls for a modern update. But packed in the high service level you soon forget a about it and enjoy being in a special place.

Started and ended our two and half week journey through Myanmar at the Govenor's Residence in Yangon. Beautiful hotel with friendly and courteous staff. Make sure you stop by the gourmet shop and say "hi" to Me Me Aung the shop manager and try their delicious desserts especially the yogurt and apple pie. We were also pleasantly surprised to find... Last day in Yangoon after a hectic 16 day tour of Myanmar...what to do? Facing a 20 hr trip home the thought of pounding 38c city streets was not appealing as my 25yr old daughter and I had already seen the top sites. So having no pool at our hotel googled hotels with pools. Governors Residence caught the eye and... More

My wife and I are traveling a lot and often in very good hotels but the Governor's Residence was definitely one of the best ever, and this in all aspects. Everything is excellent and the location like paradise. Burkhard
