We had three separate stays at the Governors Residence (and got upgraded each time). The location, away from the madness of Yangon centre - is very good. The rooms are lovely but getting a bit tired - I understand that the hotel is due to be refurbed in 2016. We commented on the lack of power points and when we... More

We stayed here for a night on both ends of our river boat cruise from Bagan to Mandalay and very much enjoyed it both times. The grounds and pool area are lovely and are a tranquil retreat from the heat and bustle of Yangon. Our first room was on the ground floor, our second on the third floor. Both rooms... More

We stayed here for 2 nights at both the start and end of our trip to Myanmar and were delighted with every aspect of this very fine establishment. The rooms, grounds, facilities and amenities could not be faulted. Rooms are no higher than 3 floors and are accessed by stairs only. Breakfasts were superb, with a good variety of international... A gem of a hotel. Rooms, garden, poolarea are a beautiful oasis to relax in after visiting the rather caotic city of Yangoon. Excellent food - we had the Burmese Curry Table. Wide range of tastes. Breakfast served from 04:30 in the morning. Very good when you have to catch an early flight.

This hotel was the first one we stayed in during our trip around Myanmar. After arrival from Bangkok we were met by our guide and our driver and taken for a tour around chaotic Yangon. As motorbikes are forbidden on the streets of Yangon, everybody seems to be driving a car. Result: endless traffic jams. After lunch in a non-descript... More

Our first stop in Myanmar, Yangon. After 20+ hours of flying, the Belmond Govenor's Residence. Staff welcomed us with gentle grace, charm and elegance. Situated in a quiet area of Yangon, we found ourselves anxious to return after a day of touring through the chaos of Yangon. Handsomely appointed rooms, extensive amenities in combination with beautiful grounds and gardens, this... More

My wife and I had a short visit to Yangon in the month of July and stayed in Belmond Governor’s residence. We chose this property as both my wife & I wanted to stay at a boutique establishment than a large chain hotel. And we found the reviews of the Governor’s residence to be very positive. Yes the price is... More

The staff is trying to keep the guests happy, but do not seemed to be properly trained. This hotel is in a quiet area of Yangon which is good and bad. Do to City traffic it now takes 30 minutes to get to the center of Yangon after 10:30 in the morning. The bakery is great and so is Breakfast,... More

This hotel had been on my hit list for quite some time and I'm so glad that I came. It very is a special place. The Beautiful pool area makes you not want to leave the grounds. I could quite happily sit there for days on end drinking cocktails. The breakfast here is quite an experience in its self. Such... More

A return from last year as a first and last night 'retreat' in Yangon. Elegant, lovely rooms, beautiful quiet setting and excellent food. The breakfasts are particularly worth exploring - something for all tastes. Staff helpful and kind and even after long flights, it made us feel rested.
