Strand is to my knowledge the only hotel of Yangon reflecting the old days of Yangon with class and comfort. The service is perfect, attentive and always with a smile. Some staffs are faithful since so long to the institution that they have numerous of anecdote to tell while we slowly zipping a Martini at their well-known bar. At the... More

It is a beautiful bar that is stuck in time and upon entering it makes you feel as if you are back in Colonial Burma and while all in color you see it black and white. A sure way to cool down from the hot and humid day out is with their classic cocktail The Strand Sour. The cocktail has... More

We stayed 2 nights at the Strand in May. This was our first visit to Rangon. While the Strand was nice, and there was nothing specific wrong with the hotel, It was not at the level of luxury I was expecting. The staff was all great, and the service was 5 star, but the facilities were a bit dated. The... More

A wonderful hotel with fabulous interior. It is on a very busy road, however, our room overlooking it was double glazed and so did not affect our stay. There is a nice bar downstairs and the restaurant was great. Only a short walk from the station. My only gripe is the very high cost of the room relative to other... More

But only a view to a noisy large road when we arrived. The Strand is a very nice hotel - indeed. The staff is extremely friendly and service minded. But when you agree something and promise it is unacceptable that it is not there when you arrive from the other side of the globe. In addition. Yangon is the dirtiest... More

I was not completely impressed by the way they welcomed us at the airport, we booked hotel's car for $ 50. When we arrived at the arrival terminal we saw a driver holding a piece of crumpled paper with my name hand-written over and again. We were then escorted to the car which was very old and had no proper... More

After some seriously rough travel, this place was a paradise. Unquestionably the best (or fanciest) meal in town. Excellent service, clean, authentically old school colonial. Very neat place. Also, excellent for a great meal or patio cocktail. Even if you're not staying there.

The hotel is a great sanctuary as I had gone trekking around Myanmar for 2 weeks, needed a cozy place to crash before leaving the country. I got the fully deserved rest! It's got a great old Burma ambience reflected in its immaculate decor & furnitures. Loved the high ceilings, room was awesomely spacious & quiet and breakfast was a... More

Not much to add to other reviews. We loved the hotel and really enjoyed our stay. It has been nicely restored. Rooms are their original, generous size. The hotel offers "preferred cars", which are an ideal way to tour the city. Staff are perhaps at times a bit amateur. But their good intentions and consistent friendliness more than compensate.

We called into this old Colonial Hotel for it's happy hour (1/2 price cocktails every Friday) and really enjoyed the lively atmosphere, great cocktails. Whilst we only visited the bar we really enjoyed the experience and wished we were staying here.
