The Strand is a beautiful old colonial masterpiece locked in time. The rooms are huge, comfortable and kitted out with all the amenities required. The WiFi is good, the ambience excellent and a butler on each floor is a nice touch. The staff are fantastic. Breakfast was excellent (worth getting a rate that includes it within the package) and was... More

I travel almost constantly and usually stay in five-star chain hotels that are booked for me by the clients for whom I work. In making a side-trip from Bangkok to visit the Shwedagon in Yangon, I did my own booking. I was attracted by the fact that The Strand was started by the Sarkies brothers, who also built the Raffles... More

the strand hotel is a good one with very skilful, efficient and helpful staff though, it is located on the very busy and noisy road. Rooms are spacious and they have got art gallery in the building too.

This hotel was just what we needed after a somewhat physically challenging train ride from Bagan. It was just like a travel back in time, into colonial Rangoon with the calm, convenience and luxury of the Strand hotel. Being in the same place where Rudyard Kipling and Somerset Maugham once stayed was an honour for me.

This hotel has a wonderful old world feel to it. It was of course the first hotel for westerners in Yangon. I felt it is still trying to rest on its laurels however so would not give it an excellent rating. As in many hotels in Myanmar....public areas are not well air conditioned. Even some rooms are not cool, but... More

The Strand carries its years. It isn't a new hotel. And it doesn't pretend to be. The only criticism is the front desk, where the attention and abilities of the receptionists just don't measure up to the rest of the hotel by way of experience. Lovely large rooms, olde world charm is what you get. If you want the slick... More

stayed there on the last night in Yangon after having to endure the super hot weather. stepping into the hotel felt like walking into a time machine that brings you back to british colonial time. personal butler to bring you coffee or tea at any time in the room was a nice touch. rooms are tastefully design. would highly recommend... Strand is to my knowledge the only hotel of Yangon reflecting the old days of Yangon with class and comfort. The service is perfect, attentive and always with a smile. Some staffs are faithful since so long to the institution that they have numerous of anecdote to tell while we slowly zipping a Martini at their well-known bar. At the... More

It is a beautiful bar that is stuck in time and upon entering it makes you feel as if you are back in Colonial Burma and while all in color you see it black and white. A sure way to cool down from the hot and humid day out is with their classic cocktail The Strand Sour. The cocktail has... More

We stayed 2 nights at the Strand in May. This was our first visit to Rangon. While the Strand was nice, and there was nothing specific wrong with the hotel, It was not at the level of luxury I was expecting. The staff was all great, and the service was 5 star, but the facilities were a bit dated. The... More
