I was blown away by this hotel. My boyfriend had booked it as a birthday present and it was incredible. Attention to detail was made in every aspect and the food at the restaurant was devine. Staff were very attentive and helped us with whatever we needed. Ok, so it has no pool, which may divide some people as to... More

We stayed in The Strand hotel for 2 days on our tour of Birma. It is an old colonial building in perfect condition with a big lobby with ratan furniture. The bedrooms are very big nicely decorated and everything functions very well . Service is outstanding;in the restaurant food was perfect. Everyone talks about the bar ; I have never... More

Be warned that getting here along the working waterfront is probably going to be frustrating. Awful traffic and pollution however only makes The Strand a welcome respite. Enter a world of old colonial charm. Do visit the Art gallery in the Easy wing past the defunct metal cage lift. Ease your parched throat in the atmospheric Bar where smoking still... More

The hotel is quite lovely and the rooms quite large. However for $500+ per night I would not expect mold in the shower. Other than butlers on (I assume) each floor to grab your key when you left and give it back on your return, I found no hint of a "specialness" that should have exuded. The most I can... More

Among the hotel in Yangon, some people like foods from hotel but some prefer to bring themselves but some hotel do not allowed to bring the foods for the events. If you would like to bring yourselves, the Strand Hotel will be your best choice in terms of price as well as their service. For catering, The Taj Restaurant will... More

I wanted to love this hotel. My husband and I are somewhat of the 'colonial hotel in Asia buffs' having stayed at Raffles (Singapore), Majestic (Malacca), E&O (Penang) and Hotel d'Angkor in Siem Reap so we really wanted to stay at The Strand. The Strand plays heavily on it's place in the history of Anglo-Burmese history. The lobby is lovely and... More

We stayed there with my husband while waiting to go on the Strand's cruise. Words fail me, you are transported into another world. The room is large and so comfortable. Every detail makes the experience so special. One can imagine life as it was when Rudyard Kipling visited ( with modern facilities). I would recommend it to anyone who wants... More

Built in 1901, it´s owned by the same people as Raffles in Singapore & consists of 30 suites. The hotel has a very colonial feel. There are high ceilings, teakwood floors & various antiquities. It stands on a main road so has easy access to Yangon & its sights. The sounds of the street don´t infiltrate into the hotel which... More

We didn't stay overnight but wanted to soak up the historic ambiance. We ordered the formal high tea. Little savouries, mini sandwiches, scones, jam and tiny decorative cakes. Choice of teas all served on lovely china. We whiled away a couple of hours in this well preserved historic landmark on Yangon waterfront.

Nice feel to the place, but not as great as you imagine it could be. Rather pricey but then, these days in Myanmar most things seem to be way overpriced and not such good value. Good service. Bar out front worth checking out.
