i only called into the bar, having walked for several hours in the heat of the day and the Strand Hotel bar was a welcome and cool place to sit for an hour or so and enjoy the local beer! Very nice atmosphere and old world charm in this hotel lobby and entrance area. I found an old cage lift... More

The hotel was what I expected and even more. From the airport pick-up I was already impressed as the driver was extremely polite, fluent in English and gave us many explanations and details about the city, the country and places as we passed by. The Strand hotel is located right on the road and as we stepped in, we could... More

It is good to know that you are welcome to have a look around the lobby area and admire/buy the art work on show on the ground floor without being a resident at this grand hotel. Whilst on an orientation walk around Yangon our tour leader took us in to have a look around. My husband and I returned on... More

We had a drink at the bar to absorb history of the place and were not disappointed (we are staying in a quirky hotel "around the corner" (about 20 walking minutes away) - very nice as well - albeit of a different category. The Strand Lobby is great, with venerable wicker chairs. The bar is solid wood with a great... More

Arrived at the airport on a flight from Bagan. Had to wait for the driver since he was running late. Car is old and outdated (the Sule Shangri-La picks you up with a luxurious and spacious Toyota Alphard with Onboard WiFi!! - for the same price of $50) Arrived at the hotel, greeted by the doorman, taken to the lobby... Our usual Hotel was fully booked and got a fabulous deal on Expedia for The Strand including flights from Thailand. Spacious rooms which were very comfortable but now a little tired, saying that the hotel is beautiful and a wonderful place to stay if you have not been to Myanmar before because of its Colonial history. The breakfast, all a... More

The best service-You must like colonial ambiance-The food is delicious No pool and garden and when it's hot after a day in 35 degree it is a good thing to have a pool to relax... A bit far from everything so you have to take a taxi and the trafic is often jam pack!!!

We started our Myanmar small group tour at the Strand and the lovely old world ambience and service was unique. The rooms were large, representative of their historical origins but luxurious. The restaurant service was brilliant and the food beautifully presented. Looking forward to our return here before departure and would recommend The Strand for a feel of old Burma... More

This is an icon property situated ideally in downtown Yangon. I will start and say that that even though it looks they religiously try to keep this property genuine at the strand, there's a room for improvement: Very old mattresses,,, outdated phone dock...All other amenities are just great. Now. This is a butler service hotel in a way that doesn't... More

This is quite a special place to visit. It has been updated and renovated. We stopped for a cooling drink on our tour of the downtown area. The lobby is quite special and very reminiscent of the era before the Second World War. Some of the pictures in the lobby show The Strand in its hey day
