If you speak to any local in Myanmar, chances are they will know about The Strand Hotel. It has become very iconic in Myanmar and is their equivalent of Raffles in Singapore. Funnily enough, a few days after staying at The Strand we stayed at Raffles in Singapore and we both agreed the service at The Strand was far superior.... More

The service was impeccable and the rooms well appointed in it's simplicity where less is more wins. A wonderful place to stay for a day or two, but it's lack of an outdoor area to relax in limits the amount of time you'll want to stay. If your going through Yangon, I would definitely recommend it.

Yes it's expensive...but its worth it. We were here for 2 nights including Christmas night and again a night at the end. we had a room towards the street each time, once on Level 1 and once on Level 2. Each time the bed was fantastic, the rooms huge and absolutely no noise through the double glazed windows. I adored... More

A great place to soak in the colonial trappings of a bygone era. My wife and I stayed one night and had some wonderful memories. We think it is not as lavish as the Raffles Hotel in Singapore and the E&O in Penang but it is close and like the other two hotels, is one of the grand dames of... More

Strand is different. It's like another world that operates in itself. It has been cut off from the rest of the Yangon where it is decayed and chaotic. Strand is calm and time is stilled. You'd forget you are in Burma.

Yangon is a crazy city and the strand is a repository of calm. We stayed in a junior suite (travel agent rate was half the rack rate!). The room was spotless, huge, and wonderfully appointed. The original huge bathtubs and dressing room and large floor plans are still intact. Wonderful stay in a chaotic town.

The Strand offers a unique experience for those who appreciate a hotel precisely because it isn't a clone of a thousand other modern high-end properties. If you need a pool, a gym, a slick "new wing", an "internet corner" with computers in the lobby, etc., then this isn't the hotel for you. It has none of those things. Instead, bring... More

I have been here for 2 nights. The room was very big even enough for 5 person in one room but the bathroom facility was not really good. They dont have cotton bud and comb as usual as five star hotel. Breakfast was not too satisfied. They dont have buffet breakfast instead of menu like in an usual restaurant. Most... More

The Strand is a majestic colonial masterpiece. Restored to much of its glory by the current owners, this is, by far, the best hotel to stay at in Yangon. The standard superior suites are simply massive while the deluxe suites are breathtaking and the executive suites truly luxurious - all three harken back to a bygone era you will not... More

I visited Burma (Birmania) a few months ago. Landed in Yangon and went staight to the Strand. What strikes you immediately is the wide hall. Reception clerks an staff very friendly. Magnificent refurbished Hotel in british colonial style. Very large rooms with large an comfortable beds plus large bathroom. Well furnished . A butler available at every floor. Being treated...
