The hotel has a very good location to visit the city and walk around chinatown or the market. The rooms are basic, nancy fancy but the staff are helpful. Ask them to get you the taxis. They will avoid you being ripped by the taxi drivers.

The May Shan occupies a prime position on Yangon’s Sule Pagoda Road, as a matter of fact, the Pagoda was almost literally outside our window. The staff were great and very helpful but sadly that’s about all the positives for the May Shan. The May Shan calls itself a hotel, but I don’t think anything much has changed from when... More

Well, another annual return to the only hotel I've ever stayed at since making my first trip to Yangon back in 2011. I won't write that much for this review since I'd just be almost repeating myself word for word from last year's review (which has lots of detailed info about the surrounding area). * To see that review just... this is a great little hotel...nothing fancy just good friendly, helpful service combined with a great location, clean rooms and some serious air conditioners. The lady who runs the place is a great source of local information and very helpful with tips on getting around town. The location makes it easy to get to any area of town either by a short... More

I arrived fram Bagan by night bus and just take a room for the day before taking another night bus. They have been customer oreinted and asked only for half the price of the room. The room is cleaned, you have even a bath tube and last but not least the WIFI is the best I had since i am... More

I liked the May Shan, though it is nothing fancy. The lobby reminds me of my grandfather's living room. Old style furniture, the family tv, a bit of clutter. Our room is the triple and overlooks the street. One has a view of the 2,000 year old Sule Paya, though it is not a direct view. The room is clean... More

The hotel, located at the centre of the downtown, was very convenient for us to move anywhere. Besides, a few interesting establishment such as Sule Pagoda, Independence Tower, Bangali Mosque, Aung Sun Market etc. are very close. Swedagpn Pagoda and Inya Lake are not far from the place too.

This is right downtown which is great and next to sule pagoda. They offer a fine breakfast and there is good tv in the room. However, there are no windows, the room is really dusty, the shower had no curtain, the toilet seat had a crack, and the wifi was so so. The people are friendly but that is about... More

As others have said the May Shan is in a great location. The staff were welcoming and helpful. The room was too small for the bed and furniture. My other half had to exit from the foot of the bed and squeeze by to get to the washroom. We too, found the AC fan too much and had to turn... More

We used this hotel for our first 3 nights in Myanmar, another night in the middle of our holiday (waiting for an internal flight) and our last night before leaving at the end of our holiday. The last two bookings were made only once we were in Rangoon, which is an indication of how satisfied we were with our first... More
