There are too few moderately priced hotels in Nuku'alofa, Tonga. The choices for lodging are either a hotel with high rates and comfortable such as the Waterfront Lodge or very low rates in uncomfortable & unsanitary accommodations. The Waterfront is a boutique hotel with nicely appointed rooms. It has a water view and is near several restaurants and bars. There... More

The Waterfront is the best accommodation in Nuku'alofa. A small guesthouse of 8 rooms, set in a tropical garden,& beautifully maintained & clean. It is 2-3 kms out of the main city area, so the late night crowds/ nightclubs can only be heard at a distance. The staff were friendly, courteous & professional. No request was a problem. The restaurant had the... More

By no means an hotel, lodge is the right description. Its rather like a good motel in Australia with about 10 rooms upstairs and a dining room and reception down. Quail with outside stairs that are very challenging with a heavy case but the good part is there seems always to be a friendly staff member who will offer to... More

My husband and I arrived late in the evening at the Waterfront Lodge. The colourful "lit up" trees in the windows were very inviting and looked pretty as we arrived, making us feel as "where're here now" We were greeted by Tulla who then showed us to our room and explained how everything worked, a great welcome! The apartments were... More

This is a very nice Lodge. The staff in the reception and restaurant are a joy. They really care about their customers and nothing is too much trouble for them. The rooms are comfortable and airy. There are some lovely Gaugin prints on the wall which helps provide a special atmosphere. The continental breakfast is more than ample. Evening meals... More

We enjoyed one night at the Waterfront lodge before heading out to Ha'apai. The rooms are beautifully furnished with Gauguin prints and the view from the balcony looks over the port to the sea. It can be a hive of activity and we were warned often noisy in the evenings but we had no trouble. If you are prepared for... More

A charming hotel in an attractive building with spacious, well equipped and clean rooms. Good meals available, except on Sundays, when they only serve breakfast. Reception- and restaurant service very friendly. Harbour for boat excursions just opposite. Nearby the popular Billfish bar, otherwise a 20-30 minutes walk along the waterfront into the town-center. The hotel can organize taxi-transfers from and... More

The location is very convenient. It was a lovely place to come back to at the end of the day. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. The food at the restaurant is very nice and the prices are quite reasonable as well.

I stayed for 4 nights, attending a conference at the Fa'onelua Convention Centre which is about 15 minutes walk back in the business centre of Nuku'alofa. Nothing was too much trouble, especially for two of the young women receptionists cum wait persons cum room attendants. We had dinner at the restaurant on the first night - the BBQ'd mahimahi was... We stayed here 2 nights on our way to Vava'u and on our way back from Vava'u. We like the quaint building. Everything was kept up. It was quiet, despite being on a main road. The watefront was nice to walk along and interesting in the morning with all the fishermen going out. The room was clean and the bed... More
