Location was out of town, but we didnt mind. Taxis cost between $4-$10 each way. When we arrived it was late at night. turns out that our room wasnt what we had asked for (not enough beds) so without hesitation they upgraded us to a superior suite on the top floor! we thought this was great - lots of room... more

Beware the nice photos and talk of a pretty lagoon (read mossie infested hell hole!) This was the worst experience we have had to endure. A nightclub over the road with VERY LOUD hideous music, awful breakfast, expensive transfers (crazy driver on a death wish to airport because she arrived 20 minutes late!) no pool (no nothing to be fair)... more

As we planned our around the world trip for our honeymoon we had a 'free 4 day stopover' in Tonga due to it's location (It's all done on mileage).. However, when we tried to organise anything from the UK it proved very difficult, largely due to 'Tonga time'. As a result we waited until we got to NZ and booked... more

I told my agent I wanted somewhere cheap, in the sun, where I could sip cocktails and chill out, preferably with a pool (or by the beach) that wasn't Fiji. She came up with the Lagoon Lodge on the outskirts of Nukualofa. This lodge is complimented by its web presence. The photos make it look lovely, and it is pleasant... more

we arrived late at 9pm., having selected the hotel from a travel brochure in n.z. - we wanted a reasonable, clean hotel for one night before flying out to the islands. We arrived in darkness, no one around, finally a nightwatchman or similar arrived with a torch! The apartment had a fridge switched on, with zilch inside it - no... more

I recently stayed at the Lagoon Lodge and had a spectacular time. The staff were very helpful and friendly. I went to Tonga by myself and as a single woman from Sydney, I felt very safe. The people are friendly and helpful. My room was fantastic - 2 story..... Downstairs was the kitchen, dining/lounge room with a small patio and... more

We hate this place! From the brochure and name we were picturing accomodation on a beautiful lagoon. The lagoon is a murky mosquito breeding pond, certainly not for swimming. The apartments are basic but fine. Location is remote, so you need transport to get anywhere - no food on site when we were there, and no way to get to... more

After a very disappointing stay at the Pacific Royal Hotel in Tonga it was a relief to move to the Lagoon Lodge... - 6 nights on business trip (Sep 2003) - Staff were always very helpful and friendly - stayed in the two bedroom apartment upstairs. - very clean and tidy - facilities were fine - we had a rental... more
