Have stayed at Dateline a couple of times while in Tonga on business and while it is central to town, it has seen better days and does not look to be getting a facelift anytime soon. The staff are wonderful and friendly but they have only so much they can do to compensate. These days there are more places to... More

I stayed here only because I had arrived on a late flight and hadn't pre arranged any accommodation. Thankfully they could fit me in. The room was comfortable and had decent amenities TV, shower etc. It is in a good location, right by the seafront in Nuku'alofa. But it turned out very expensive, one night here cost the same as... Stayed here 20 year ago and it was shabby sheek. Now it is just shabby. A hotel with this amount of history should not be slipping into a hole but it would appear that it is. The staff are wonderful, but all else is not up to standard. Please do not let this piece of old word history die.

Stayed just the one night at the dateline and like in other reviews I have read on Trip Advisor at one time this has been an amazing hotel. The lobby is a wonderful area although some maintenance is required to bring it up to standard. Staff were very friendly and helpful, my room was clean and tidy. Our driver to... More

Our week long stay at the Dateline was adequate. We could see that this hotel at one time was a beautiful place to stay. Customer service in Tonga overall is not a high priority but the staff were very nice and accommodating. The room was clean but it appears there is a termite problem as we had three piles in... More

I stayed at the International Dateline for two nights in June 2013, on a last minute plan change. Given my traveling arrangements, I was very happy to have a warm shower and a place to sleep. If you have no other options, this hotel will be acceptable. If you have other options, please exercise them. Good things about the hotel... More

I am not very picky about places to stay at so I have to say that what I think is acceptable may be horrid to some. I stayed here in June, it was unplanned for due to other things that were happening. I had already heard that this hotel was quite bad so I went in with pretty low expectations.... More

This hotel has to be the worst that I have stayed in considering its price! Sadly, despite its history, it has been very badly water and fire damaged and very little has been done to renovate this. It is a large hotel which is virtually unoccupied and therefore is really beyond salvaging. If it is not demolished, then the very... More

We stayed for 2 nights in Jan '13 and must say I was rather impressed. We stayed in the "new wing" and the room was large, the bed was comfy, the TV worked and air conditioning was fantastic. I have the feeling we were one of 3 couples at the hotel.. not very busy. The pool was open and clean!

It’s sad to see this once grand Pacific hotel rundown and almost deserted, when it once buzzed with activity. We were going to stay for old time’s sake, but decided better of it after inspecting the rooms. The old front rooms with windows looking out to sea are reasonable value for around US$100 but were musty and long overdue an... More
