We didn't stay here as it wasn't possible - the hotel is closed and being pulled apart. From what were could establish it was in major need of repair and has been purchased by a Fijian company who are doing it up and it will reopen in 2017. It looked fairly grand (largest hotel in Tonga) so will be great... More

The hotel is bit old but has a nice and comfy environment towards it. Staff are really friendly and the food is out of this world -specially when its hard to find western food in Tonga. easy access airport and other places ...

Essentially, the hotel is someone modern but it is overpriced for where and what it is. I would not stay here again, only because there are far more beautiful places to stay on the beach on the northeastern part of the island. For being where it is and forgoing Americans’ way of judging lodging, it was better than I thought... More

After almost 20 years we returned to this former great hotel. Stayed just the one night at the dateline and like in other reviews I have read on Trip Advisor at one time - we do remember personally - this has been an amazing hotel. The lobby is still a wonderful area full of a kind of classic touch and... More

Have stayed at Dateline a couple of times while in Tonga on business and while it is central to town, it has seen better days and does not look to be getting a facelift anytime soon. The staff are wonderful and friendly but they have only so much they can do to compensate. These days there are more places to... More

I stayed here only because I had arrived on a late flight and hadn't pre arranged any accommodation. Thankfully they could fit me in. The room was comfortable and had decent amenities TV, shower etc. It is in a good location, right by the seafront in Nuku'alofa. But it turned out very expensive, one night here cost the same as... Stayed here 20 year ago and it was shabby sheek. Now it is just shabby. A hotel with this amount of history should not be slipping into a hole but it would appear that it is. The staff are wonderful, but all else is not up to standard. Please do not let this piece of old word history die.

Stayed just the one night at the dateline and like in other reviews I have read on Trip Advisor at one time this has been an amazing hotel. Our week long stay at the Dateline was adequate. We could see that this hotel at one time was a beautiful place to stay. Customer service in Tonga overall is not a high priority but the staff were very nice and accommodating. The room was clean but it appears there is a termite problem as we had three piles in... I stayed at the International Dateline for two nights in June 2013, on a last minute plan change. Given my traveling arrangements, I was very happy to have a warm shower and a place to sleep. If you have no other options, this hotel will be acceptable. If you have other options, please exercise them. Good things about the hotel... More
