Had a one-night stop-over in Nukualofa on our way to Vavau with a 10:30pm arrival and needing a late checkout the following day and figured this hotel would be relatively likely to be able to handle both since it looks quite 4 star online. But no. Despite booking a room with a queen and a roll-away single bed for our... more

We were not planning on staying at the International Dateline Hotel but when we arrive in the country and went to our original accommodation and know one was there our taxi driver offered to take us to the dateline. We knew we would only be there for 1 night so chose the standard room and found it to be adequate.... more

After booking my accommodation late, I decided to stay at the International Dateline Hotel. The initial view of the hotel is very promising with a beautiful marble floor lobby and interior. However, further into the hotel, it’s age begins to show. I was staying in a deluxe or executive double room (not too sure now of the type) the room... more

I recently stayed here whilst attending a conference. The hotel foyer gives the impression of a clean, modern hotel but my bedroom was pretty grim......no shower curtain and just a single, discoloured towel. The breakfast was very poor and is nto be recommended. I understand that this hotel is partly owned by the Chinese government......which is no real surprise. To... more

I travelled to Tonga to see family and stay with them first, and my boyfriend flew in a few weeks later to meet me. We stayed 5 nights at the Dateline. The hotel had nice air conditioned and clean rooms, the shower was high pressure and hot. The pool was standard as was the service. No complaints really! Good location,... more

Just stayed for 2 nights, one night each at this hotel. Generally had good experience contrary to other reviews. Had checked out rooms before and we saw good rooms, strong, hot shower,s airconditioning controls are in chinese, but those familiar with these type of controls, can generally work out, as they are toggle on /off type switches. One difference to... more

This is a review of two stays, one in June and this on in October 2008. The June visit was for an overnighter, late pm in, eating out with clients, a quick sleep and off again early before breakfast. Generally everything was fine for a quick stay, but pricey. This time however I was there for 3 nights and with... more

As a travel agent I stayed in this hotel overnight while visiting Nuku'alofa I stayed in a room on the 1st floor that overlooked the pool side of the complex. I think it will have been a deluxe superior room. On first impression the hotel was fine. Reception and public areas were clean and tidy and really spacious. However, the... more

Dear Prospective Travellers The International Dateline Hotel is certainly the largest and most imposing hotel in Nuku'Alofa Tonga. I recently was booked to stay there for about 10 days through my business. I paid 220 Pa'anga per night and the hotel was mostly empty of guests. In general, the staff members were friendly and willing to help although you have... more
