South Seas travellers, tourists and adventurers always have a romantic vision what what an island paradise should resemble. They have read Melville, Stevenson and Twain and are passionate about any discoveries that endorse their fantasies. Fat Mama's Restaurant and Bar on delightful Pangaimotu Island is well worthy of topping the list of truly South Pacific images...the golden beaches, coral sands,... More

Set just 10 minutes out of Nuku'alofa it's easy to get to and one of the only places in the Kingdom open on a Sunday. Little bit pricey and food service can be slow but not a bad day out. You can walk around the island but take reef shoes or walk carefully as at different tides the surface changes... More

We went here on a Sunday as all shops etc are closed and what a great day. The lunch that came with the return boat trip at Fat Mamas was very good (I had the fish and chips and would recommend). The beach is great to park up on and relax for the day. The swimming is great at low... More

Visited this island on a Sunday. 45TP (per person) included a return ferry trip and lunch at "Big Mama's" which we thought was quite reasonable. The snorkelling along from the shipwreck (head right from the bar) was really enjoyable. Along the edge of the small reef, quite close to the beach were lots of colourful sponges, some coral and loads... More

You can reach this resort for day trips by taking a short boat ride from the wharf 11am (more times available on a Sunday). It is a lovely place to spend a day with a gorgeous beach, and great food is included in the price- I'd recommend the fish dishes, as the fish is super fresh and yummy. Staff are... More

The island has a really lovely swimming beach and is conveniently close to Nuku'alofa. It's a great place to spend the day relaxing in the sun, and the restaurant also has delicious fish and chips. As far as I know you can't stay at Pangaimotu anymore, so it's purely for day trips. My main qualm with Panga is that the... More

We went out during the week not many tourists on the island such a beautiful place, only 10 mins from the mainland. Snorkelling was great clear water. Sat over the water eating marlin and chips. Marlin was caught the day before while chatting with big Mama over a cold glass of sav. Bliss.. Tropical island at its best with rustic... More

We had a fantastic day over on Pangaimotu Island. We had a lovely lunch at Big Mumma's Yacht Club and the fish burger I had was so fresh and yummy! Our teenagers had an awesome time snorkelling around the boat wreck and then jumping off the top of it. This is a lovely place to spend the day and relax... More
