I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. I was fortunate enough to have one of the newly renovated rooms which was clean, modern and had a great view of the ocean. I stayed at this hotel with a number of other business travellers who had separate rooms who had varying opinions of their rooms so I think there is a... More

I have been into this hotel several times and find it very comfortable and clean. Don't expect allot of 5 Star service however it is basic services. The sea View Rooms 3rd floor are as good as any in the city and have wonderfull views of the sea and the sunrise.

Over the last 20 years I have stayed here a number of times. Honiara doesn't have a lot of accommodations. Mendana has garden views, sea views, executive rooms, and suites. The price on all the rooms seems way too high to me. The suites, executive rooms, and sea view rooms have been redone and have a much more updated appearance.... More

I can't remember the name of the Japanese restaurant there, but the food there is really delicious. I lived in the Sols for six months and went there a few times for business meetings. Lovely sashimi, extremely fresh and good service. The hotel reception was always very friendly too, and the souvenir shop is lovely to visit.

I have stayed in this hotel twice and had a very pleasant and comfortable stay on both occasions. First time I was in executive room, second time in sea view room on ground floor level which had a lovely view and you could hear the ocean even at closed doors. It is worth mentioning that this was one of the... More

The entrance to this hotel gives an illusion of quality that just isn't there. However its probably comparable to the other hotels in this price range for Honiara, best of a bad bunch? I do recommend eating here, particularly buffets and the sushi!

This hotel was average for Solomon Island standards. No lifts, pretty basic buffet breakfast, very low shower pressure (couldn't get the shower head to work properly), dirty pool. My room was clean but more akin to a single room in a backpackers in Australia or New Zealand, comfortable enough. The staff were friendly, but service is slow - would advise... More

I stayed here for a period of 2 weeks and I enjoyed my stay. The rooms are nice, clean and modern. Air conditioning works well. The Japanese restaurant is fantastic. Shops are walking distance. You have souvenirs everywhere you look around you. Telekom (local phone company) is within walking distance too. I recommend getting a local sim card as data... More

My Sister and i were desperate for a good feed, so we got off the Point Cruz bus and went and had breakfast there as we were starving, you need to have a big brekky when you are walking all day. The restaurant will make you a hand picked omelette, which you pick your ingredients and big gorgeous platters of... More

I stayed at the Mendana for 7 nights in early August 2012 as part of a WWII tour group. While I was smart enough not to expect an upscale Hawaiian hotel, and knowing this hotel was in a third world nation, basic "hotel" services were lacking. First off they wouldn't give us an extra key. As part of my tour,... More
