The best part was location, right near the places we needed to be to do business (ranger station, dock, outfitter). Arrived late at night, paid their shuttle driver $20 for airport pickup, probably twice what a taxi would cost. The room is dark, ridiculously large, uncomfortable beds, rough linens, and equipment did not work (TV or hot water maker). On... More

The hotel is located very close to Sam's Tours, so if you go diving with them, this is a very good location. It is not on the sea, however the price compensates that. The rooms are clean, decent, AC working. There is safe box, available for a deposit of $50 for the key. The personnel at reception is very helpful,... More

We stayed at this hotel for 8 nights during a diving trip in Palau. The accommodation supply in Palau is quite limited and this was the only hotel available at the time of booking. It is a basic hotel but it was in a decent shape and the rooms were large and clean. Quite expensive for what it is but... More

We booked a suite to have a kitchen available. The kitchen was sparsely furnished, but adequate for our purposes. The room itself was quite large, and the beds were comfortable. The a/c was very efficient and kept the room plenty cool and the humidity level down. The staff was also efficient and friendly. It's a great location to stage if... More

My husband and I stayed at West Plaza for five nights in September, 2014. We will absolutely stay here again on our next Palau trip. The rooms are clean and the service is excellent. Our included breakfast next door @ the Palm Bistro Cafe was surprisingly good (2 eggs any style, bacon or sausage, 2 pieces of toast, and a... More

I stayed 4 nights and the room was clean and comfortable. Water pressure was low, but was able to get clean. Very accomodating staff. Walking distance to Sam"s Tours. Red Rooster beer brewed next door, decent food as well. Great place to stay for a dive trip.

This is a great spot if you just need a place to sleep in Malakal. Red Rooster beer is made steps away as is a great restaurant or you can take the shortcut in the parking lot to walk to Kramer's. Ask for rooms with a quiet ac. Don't expect too much as the staff are overworked. Wifi in the... More

We spent 3 nights here at the beginning of our trip to Palau and I'd say the hotel was reasonable. Having spent some more time in Palau, I'd recommend the Desekel over this hotel as the location is far better when you don't have a car. The hotel also looked after our bags while we were out kayaking for 8... More

3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2014

We were in Palau for 4 nights, 3 days, for scuba diving (which is not enough by the way). The West Plaza Malakal is a very basic hotel with some of the cheapest rates on the island from what we could find. The rooms were tiled, large, and clean. The air conditioning was a wall/window unit which is loud and... More

Quirky hotel - some nice features in rooms (toiletries basket), offset by somewhat shabby linens and semi-functioning shower curtain. If you're diving and all you need is a place to sleep, it ticks all the boxes. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Small grocery and laundry right across the street, as well as the local brewery. Easy walking distance to... More
