This hotel is very old and with a pour conservation. I regret to say that this was the worst hotel where I've stayed in the last years. I've been in three different rooms. All with a lot of noise coming from the outside air conditioning system. The smell in the bathroom was terrible. I think they use a strong disinfectant.... More

I always find myself defending the Hotel Excelsior with the same degree of difficulty that I have when I try to explain why I like Paraguay so much. It's very hard to describe what is the attraction of the Hotel Excelsior because it has very few redeeming features. But I guess, as with Paraguay itself,it is the "far away feeling",... More

I have just returned from what, by my reckoning, is my 18th visit in seven years to the Excelsior. While it still remains one of the best hotels in my experience, there are, regrettably signs of the near universal phenomenon that once excellence is achieved decadence follows almost inevitably. The first signs of this were in my previous visit of... More

This luxury hotel really worth to spend a few days there. Extremely spacious rooms with all facilities, free open air swimming pool (scout 15 metros long) with bar, chairs etc., nice lobby with another bar, pleasant staff, reasonable prices, extreme cleanliness (in the south America context).

Booked this hotel over Christmas as a five star treat.... What a mistake! Location is good, within walking distance of Plaza of heroes, lots of restaurants and even a shopping centre over the road. Other reviewers had mentioned the tired and old state of the hotel rooms, it is a bit like staying at your gran's house, this was not... More

By my reckoning, this was my 17th visit to the Excelsior and it never disappoints. Indeed it gets better. A very minor but irritating quibble - that the drawn curtains in the bedrooms failed to meet, leaving an irritating beam of early morning sunshine - has finally been remedied and the ram-shackle strong boxes in the bedrooms, with their incredibly... The lobby is splendid. The included breakfast a delight. Service is spectacular. Rooms are very clean. English is spoken. BUT... Internet is spotty and slow at best and the rooms have been allowed to deteriorate. The bedding is OK but the mattress I had sagged. The hallway carpeting is frayed, the paint in the room is chipped, the furniture old... More

This hotel was probably one of the best hotels in the city a long time ago... I recently stayed there since I didnt have any other hotels available and was Ok with the hotel. Nothing special to comment about. The rooms are clean but old... The breakfast was decent. the internet access was poor, it worked sometimes and at other... More

Excellent location, in the centre of the city, a short walk from the President's Palace and the bay front. The staff at the reception as well as in all the services of the hotel are extremely kind, courteous and helpful. The rooms are huge, but furniture and decoration are old, simple and of low quality. The bathroom was also old... More
