I booked this hostel based on the strong reviews on various sites. However, while the place was clean and in a good location, I didn't really enjoy my stay for a few reasons. First, this is more like a wellness or spiritual retreat than a hostel. There are a fair number of rules, like not having alcohol on the premises,... More

Very pretty hostel set around a series of courtyards. Rooms very comfortable if slightly chilly though there are hot water showers in the shared bathrooms. All very clean and well kept by the helpful and friendly staff. Breakfast basic but plentiful. Felt very safe. An excellent and tranquil base from which to explore Bogota. It also happens to be very... More

If you're looking for a super-tranquilo hostel then this is the place for you. Spotlessly clean, very beautifully appointed and cared-for and run by a group of lovely women, this is the most-chilled hostel ever. Note: this is not a party hostel! Please at least do the minimum research and see that this is an oasis of calm. If you... More

On a quiet street on the edge of La Candelaria, this place is absolutely beautiful and tranquil inside, spotlessly clean, with lovely gardens and hammocks and places to sit and read. The bathrooms are nice, and hot water is plentiful. Some travelers might find it almost too peaceful - I sometimes felt like I might easily disturb others (the sound... More

I spent 3 nights in a private room at the Anandamayi for three people. The bathroom is shared and is outside (however there are many and are always clean). There is hot water, but the windows are castings, which, considering the cold wheater of Bogota and the fact that they are outside the rooms, it's not a good thing. The... More

This hostel is located in walking distance to restaurants, coffee-shops etc. in the old-town of Calanderia. Security is good (locked front-door and lockers in room). The Dorm is very spacious and lovely (like and old barn) and the beds are comfy, even in the cold Bogota nights. Wifi is stable but a bit slow (only upload). Breakfast is excellent and... More

I have stayed at Anandamayi twice now while in Bogotá and have loved it both times. As the title suggests, it is without down the most calm and tranquil hostel I have stayed at in South America. If you are looking for a party hostel, this is not the place! The staff are great and always on hand. Having stayed... More

The colonial charm is what really captivated me the most during my stay at the Anandamayi Hostel. Three meticulously manicured courtyards are surrounded by sleeping quarters with a communal kitchen in the middle, which provides coffee, black tea, hibiscus tea, coca leaf tea, hot water around the clock for free, and computers with internet during the day. The staff was... More

This place is really lovely, an old historical building with lots of flowers in the garden. The mattresses are quite old an uncomfortable, however and there are many rules, which you are provided with the second after you walk in the door. Actually, first you're asked for a tip, then you get the rules. There are lots of postings all... More

We picked this place as heard it was a very quiet place to stay which was what we were looking for. We stayed in a double room with a bathroom and it was cosy and also quiet (we couldn't hear the road outside as were thick stone walls, and faced the internal courtyard). The staff were very helpful and gave... More
