Stayed here for several nights. Convenient location. Hotel claims to be 5-star but at best is a 2-3 star property. Food is terrible. They served uncooked fish and upon noticing it seem to have just micro-waved it. Tuna Sandwich came "literally", canned cold tuna between to cold slices of bread with no condiments.

If you choose to stay in the Candelaria district this is the place to book. Walking distance from museums and squares, comfortable rooms and nice staff. However, don't expect 5 star luxury. Although La Candelaria is indeed a dodgy place to wander around at night, it feels pretty safe during the day. And the street where the hotel is located... More

The arrival at 5am was a bit of a fiasco with the receptionist getting muddled up and then having to walk through the dark to the rooms (couldn't they have put the lights on?!) but the hotel is pleasant enough and has character. It is certainly well located right in the heart of La Candelaria. Good breakfasts and helpful if... More

My husband and I recently stayed here during our time in Bogota and loved it! The staff was extremely friendly and always willing to help. The location is fantastic as you are close to the Candelaria area without being totally in the middle of it. What is also great is how safe you feel here, there is always someone at... More

When traveling in Latin America, I search for hotels that reflect local culture, provide a full range of services and have staffs that attend to one's needs. Hotel de la Opera meets all of these criteria and several more. My room was located in the more modern part of the hotel and offered all the amenities I look for, a... More

This boutique hotel is a converted mansion; most rooms overlook a quiet lush courtyard. The rooms and furnishings are pretty basic. My bed was pretty hard; there is no AC, which is not really a problem in Bogota, but it would have been nice to have a ceiling fan. If your window/balcony overlooks the street, you really cannot leave your... More

We were travelling with five grandchildren and wanted a location convenient for sight seeing and this perfectly fit the bill. We had a large king room and two rooms with three twins that were smaller. There was confusion when we first checked in, as even though our reservation confirmation from Expedia clearly showed what we booked, we checked in late... More

Location is very ideal during the day: super close to the museums and Plaza Bolivar. At night we were nervous navigating around by ourselves, so our evening meals were limited to the hotel. The restaurant was below average: our last night before a red-eye flight and we just wanted comfort food. My hamburger was cooked beyond well-done (if that's possible),... More
